Is this your car? Can I ask why it has a salvage title?

I bought it with a salvage title. I was told a group of young punks took the radio out and took it for joy ride. Instead of the person taking it back i guess they decided to salvage it and get the insurance money. Yes it is my car have the title under my name BRETT YORK. Waskie just got done looking at it himself.

Thanks

I'm pretty intrested in it.. especially since your pretty close.
I've been looking for a TGP to fix up, but I've gotta get rid of the Samurai first as I don't think my check book would appreciate me taking on another car loan in addition to the 5 year one I have for my cutlass, lol.

I hate money sometimes.. lol  :(

So I'm assuming the car can be retitled?
I can see that all the big problematic parts have been serviced (ABS and radiator) except for the x-over.. but that's easily fixable.

I was told if it gets retitled in a differnt state it will lose the statis of salvage don't if thats true not but thats what i heard.

Well guys, for $800 this looks like a deal to me.

Engine
Looked complete
I didn't see any leaks, no fluid on the ground
Started right up
Idled pretty smooth (I miss the sound of the TGP engine  :( )
No visable smoke

Drivetrain
I did not take the car for a test drive, nor did I try to shift gears.
Needs new front tires, back two looked ok.

Body/Paint
Looked pretty good
Hood was repainted, possibly quarters too :dunno:
Clearcoat pealing in a few spots
Headlights had the typical yellow
Front valance was missing (I think he still has it)
A few dings, but I didn't see any major dents
I didn't notice any broken glass

Interior
Looked complete minus the factory radio & bezel
Seats looked decent, no tears on the bottom part.  Side bolsters showed the typical wear.

Electronics
I did not test any of the power options.  IE. seats, windows, locks, etc.

Other Notes
Check Engine & Anti Lock lights were lit

Brett, feel free to elaborate on any of my observations.

Please keep in mind, I am by no means a mechanic nor do I claim any guarantee.

Thanks Waskie, the info you provided answered the questions I had about the car.
Curious as to that the check engine light and ABS light are indicating.. but  no big deal.

Brett, have you driven the car? If so, how is the transmission? Is it showing any obvious signs of a rebuild?

How quickly are you looking to sell the car?

It shifts but it shifts hard. I was told by a local tranny shop it could be adjusted. I don't know if this possible though. All I can say is it will shift into all the gears. Yes i did drive it today after sitting for a year and half. Still has some get up and go in it put down alittle rubber.
Thanks Brett

It wasn't low on fluid was it? (just curious)
How are the tires? Still got good tread?

BTW, I sent you a PM Brett..

I think the level is fine. The tires like waskie said the back are okay but do need two front tires sometime in the near future.
thanks brett
