Title: Have any of ya TGP guys thought of using "Megasquirt?&q
Post by: mfewtrail on April 17, 2003, 02:48:26 AM
I know a good bit of turbocharged Volvo and Saab guys are using this type of fuel injection controller because it is an inexpensive alternative to using a Haltec(or however you spell it). Some of you might want to check it out, I've only heard good things about it on a few other boards. Currently, I think most Volvo owners turn to this because we have no american aftermarket ECM's available at this time. Here is a link, make sure to read the "Everything Megasquirt" FAQ and let me know what you all think of this and if it is feasible for use on a TGP.

no responses, I take it that everyone here is too lazy to at least read about "megasquirt" or either I'm missing something as to why it isn't so good of an idea?

The best way to to control everything in a TGP is to use a JeffM chip, and WE don't have to worry about knock and wipe out our engines!!!

Perhaps if there is nothing good to say, then don't say it at all.

I agree with Jim though, when there is such a viable and easy option as changing a chip and not redoing all of the wiring and electronics that are already integrated into the vehicle, why change ECMs? It may have a lower cash investment, it will make up for it with construction and rewiring.

Just figured that someone would want to do something different is all. Sorry if I came across in a bad way with my second post, I actually meant it in a playful way. 8)

Now if it were a DIY Super AFR type controler...I would do it. But not the whole computer. I already have every basic thing to reprogram the stock chip. THat dudat will come inhandy for peple in VW or non EFI vehicles, OBD II people and non programable ECMs.
