Post by: visusens on April 19, 2003, 02:00:24 PM
does anyone know the part number for the brake pressure switch that is on the powermaster? mine is leaking where the wiring plug goes in. Gotta replace it now. Any help on it is appreciated :)  :)

gm # 18013988 $50.34 <------- as listed on Chris A's site.  Make sure its not coming out the the cover before you get the switch.  My cover wasn't put on right even though it looked like it and brake fluid was running out the back and coming around to the front giving the impression that it was leaking from the bottom.

also if the switch is working correctly but leaking from the prongs crazy glue will seal it permantly and not affect the switch.  I did that on my oil switch indicator on a beretta.  Never had another problem.  Its up to you.

thanks TRU,

I had a friend hit the pedal while I watched and it is definitely coming from the switch. I believe the pressure from this system should be a little stronger, but what could I lose trying that out. I am going to pull it off and check it out. will let you know how it pans out

the new switch was like $10.  Make sure you have the silver prong on the switch in the middle.  If not you brake light will stay on.  You will understand what I mean when you have it in your hands.

oops I meant the back up brake like switch is $10 not the pressure switch.  You should check that also its under the dash above the steering wheel.  Mine was so old the plastic was turning brown.

It's a dealer item. But it's only a couple bucks.
