ok, here is the deal. I now have a TGP to build on. would you guys be interested in a 2.5" mandrel bent downpipe? the one i am refering to is not the one that bolts directly to the turbo but the one under the car that connects to the cat. I can do one with or without the cat. the stock is 2.25" pressbent. if you have a 2.5" catback this is a must IMO.

It sounds like a good idea to me as I'm planning on running a 2.5" exhaust setup. Plus, our turbo is so damned small that 3" probably wouldn't make any difference over 2.5". How much do you think this DP would be(ballpark), and would you make it aluminized steel or stainless steel???
I'd deffinitly be interested.

Exactly. VERY VERY much overkill doing a 3" mandrel bent pipe on a turbo this small. I have access to alluminized and stainless. the price obviously is going to very between the 2. I can also jet coat or powdercoat the pipe to keep it from rusting.
I will get one built and take pics. and post my thoughts on the downpipe as far as performance. it should help spool time (not that these cars have much to start with :), And also should hopefull help make power on the top RPM.

I'll be interested in a 2 1/2" stainless or jet coated down pipe.
As soon as my pipes get in I will make a downpipe and see what it takes $$$ wise to make it work out at a resonable price. Would you guys want a high flow cat included i the pipe or just the downpipe to the cat. It will be flanged so you can unbolt things easily. I think i till also have a flex in it. Let me do some designing and see what i come up with.

you know I am in! but i really do want 3" cuz that t-25 is getting heaved but if the price is decent anything is better than stock :D

anyone know the stock outlet of the turbo? I can tell you right now it is very doubtfull you would gain anything w/ a 3" downpipe. If you have a 3" catback i can probibly build a 3" for you but as far as that goes.. it would be a custom thing.
Just for clarification. this would be the DP under the car, not the one that bolts directly to the turbo.... or are we on 2 different pages here?
You guys want a cat or no cat. easiest thing to do is to make a slipover setup and clamp the rear on so you can install it yourself and not worry about muffler shops not touching it for not having a cat. Or would you want a cat?
I found T304 mandrel bent piping. I will build mine out of alluminized and see how it likes it. T304 is easily pollished and will not rust.
Shane
without cat is the way I would prefer it. Just the bolt in downpipe under the car, not the flex pipe coming off the turbo. I already have a 3" cat on the car with reducers to the stock exhaust. I would like a 3" but if you're making 2 1/2 in mass numbers then I'm in for a 2 1/2"
Thanks

the 2.5" could be flared to 3" to bolt on. If your running stock exhaust it would not be very helpfull running a 3" downpipe. you will get so many changes in velocity that you may not gain as much. BUT like i said If you guys want a 3" down pipe, i can make it assuming there physically room to put the pipe in.

I vote for no cat, and no flex joint as there isn't flex on the stock pipe. I'm not running a cat with my planned exhaust setup. I plan on putting a muffler in place of the cat as emissions isn't a worry for me.
I might possibly be interested in a 3 inch DP to go with the rest of my 3 inch exhaust. Yeah, I know it's overkill, but I'll never have to worry about choking the turbo...
Jason
definately no cat, but i'd be interested in a 3 or 2.5, can't they just make 2 3/4 and call it even? Anyways, i guess my prefrence would vary on the price difference and whether 3 will fit or not.
here is what it boils down to. 2.5" is the biggest we are going to fit w/o it hitting things. So i will build a 2.5" downpipe and take pics. the cat raises up then back down for the catback. So i might just sell the initial downpipe piece and maybe a flanged straight pipe to replace the cat so that its 2 pieces and clamps on the catback.
I will figure something out. As for the guys w/ a 3" catback i can flare the pipe to 3" so that you can have it installed w/ your custom cat/catback..
I am getting a baseline of my car friday. then after the DP i will do another baseline and see how it changes.
