Title: Powermaster Accumulator
Post by: Bill Harrison on April 21, 2003, 02:14:24 PM
I am in need of an accumulator, and after going into shock over the price jump, I was wondering if the one off a Grand National would be compatible.  Those are still available for a good price.  They look almost identical, but I was wondering if the pressures etc would be compatible.

Any info?

Thanks!

Bill

No, if you look carefully you will see one is for 30 bar and one is for 100 bar (1 bar = 14.7 psi) (I can't remeber the ratings exaclty but its something like that).

THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT INTERCHANGEABLE

It's $268 from gmpartsdirect.com. I'm not sure of the part #, but I do know that the part number listed on Chris' site..turbogpgarage.com...is not the current part number for it. If you search for that one though, it will add the correct part # (with the correct price  :( ) to your cart.

You know for $268 you may want to consider getting a Prior reman master cylinder.  I think it's like $500-$600, and it comes with a new pressure switch/accumulator/redesigned pump housing...and a warranty!  It's a little more, but you won't need to worry about changing any sensors/etc later.  Not to mention, your pump housing WILL leak eventually...

I remember someone saying that Prior is out of cores right now though...so you're looking at a longer wait for a rebuilt unit..and a higher price

Just got in my Prior re-built master. Larger calipers and rotors soon...and the fun will begin!

I have an accumulater that I'm gonna put in next weekend.  I'm pretty sure it's good, but is there any way to test?
