Title: Riced out Eclipse goes down
Post by: 90TGP on April 22, 2003, 08:18:47 AM
I was out cruising last night in my TGP with my friend. All it has is a K&N filter on the turbo, no mufflers, billet aluminum dog-bone motor mounts with polyurthane bushings, and my new MSD coils that were installed last week. We stopped by the local gathering point in our area, which is Taco Bell so I could get something to eat [supreme soft tacos are good :)].

Before I pulled into TB, a few cars where starting to gather. Mostly the local ricers, and ghetto ricers [bling bling style]. At the time, A red 95+ auto Eclipse GS with a fart tip, altezzas, and maybe an intake parked two lanes over behind my car next to a nice 66-67 creamish color GTO vert :o. As I walked back to my car with my friend, I noticed the kid in the Eclipse was looking at my car. My friend that was with me was talking to a kid we know in a white 95 auto V6 base Camaro. So I started my car up [it's nice and loud with straight pipes, and soon to get louder! ]. I guess that grabbed the kids attention somewhat as I pulled out of the lot.

This TB is in a bigger parking lot of a grocery store, and they have there own light [which takes forever to change]. So I was stuck at the light for a good 5 minutes when the red Eclipse pulled up behind me. I slowly left the light turning left onto 224 [there was a pretty big bump at the light before they put pavement over it. It's a lot better now, but you can still feel it]. I took the far lane near the turn lane as the Eclipse got next to me. Up ahead was my dumbass friend in the Camaro in the lane next to me.

My passanger put his window down as the kid in the Camaro. He told him to turn.

Passanger: Turn.
Kid: Why?
Passanger: Will you just turn?
Kid: Dumb look on face.
Passanger:Will you just F-ing turn!
Kid:Why?
Passanger:There's a red Eclipse behind you, idiot.
My passanger was screaming this while traffic was behind us.

So the kid turned, which brought the Eclipse up next to me. He slowly rolled up a bit at the light, so I knew he wanted some. So I rolled up right next to him. As soon as the light changed, we where gone! I instantly took the kid from the light at least 2 car-lengths before I flashed my hazards after I pulled 3-4 lengths in all. Those new motor-mounts helped out a lot, keeping my car's front end flat and reducing my tire spin. After that little race, the driver of the Eclipse pulled up next to me and we paced each other for about 1/2 a mile.

We both switched lanes as we got over the hill. I turned my signal on as I was going into a plaza to turn around to head back to TB. A kid in the passanger seat of the Eclipse leaned out his window yelling something and giving me a thumbs down [yeah, you look real tought hanging out of your friends car window]. I don't know what he yelled, but my passanger flipped him off.
