Performance / Gen III Heads
November 05, 2002, 08:19:03 PM
According to GMs "Chevy 60-degree V6" write-up, the Gen III (P/N 10218168) have an increase of 0.040" in intake valve diameter and a reshaped port for a flow improvement of 16.7% @ 0.450" of valve lift.  The exhaust port has been reshaped into a "D" port configuration for a flow improvement of 31.7% @ 0.450" of valve lift.

There is another head configuration available as well, I think it's part no. 10054884 (Not sure of this).

The solenoid can be bought at Criswell Chevrolet; I don't have the toll-free phone number here with me at this time.  They're back East somewhere (I live in California).  I'll post it tomorrow for those looking for a relatively cheap source for parts.  This outfit gives Fiero owners a hellofa break on the cost of parts.  When you call, just tell 'em  a member of the Fiero bunch recommended 'em to you.

The Haltech I tried (Rather unsuccessfully) to use was their "E6GM".  This is a GM-dedicated version of their "E6" series of ECMs which has a typical GM pinout configuration so that it can plug directly into GM wiring harnesses.  Some car configurations do require a bit of pin changes but only a few.  I had real bad luck with the one I have, however.  To avoid a repeat of the problems I've had, I'll just refer any interested readers to my thread on the "Haltech Forum" Web site: http://www.haltechforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=119

(Hopefully the above paste is accurate/correct)

That's why I'm trying to use the GMP4.  With those 30 pounders already in my car, I rather desperately need Jeff Middaugh's chip, although I suppose I could pop for another set of injectors (21lb/hr) and just plug the stock PROM in it for awhile....      :(

Thanks for your response!  Since I posted this request, I've since found the thing; it's P/N 1997152, sells for $13.26.  I did order the part and it should be to me in a few days.....

Now all I need to do is to receive a reply from Jeff; I do need the chip he stated in his writeup, that he's working on, that allows operation with 29 lb/hr injectors.  I can't start to install the GMP4 ECM 'till I get that chip, since  30 lb/hr injectors have already been installed in the 3.4L engine I have (I'm running the car at this time with a Haltech E6GM)....I did also find out that the ignition modules for both the TGP and the SFI 3.4L V-6 coil-packs are the same part...!

Again, thanks for your attempt to help! :D

List:

I need the part number for Subject Solenoid.  Can anyone provide it to me?

I'm in the process of  trying to finish a Turbo install in my '88GT Fiero auto, and plan on using Jeff Middaughs chip (Since the finished product will essentially be the equivalent of a TGP engine swap).  Rather than bother Jeff with trying to disable  ECM-control of boost, I want to ready the car for the GM P4 ECM install, and need that  boost actuator solenoid....

TIA!   :)
