For Sale / Want to Buy / update
January 27, 2003, 02:30:31 PM
I replaced the MAP sensor this weekend. It had gotten bad enough, there was no question it was underperforming, it even set an SES code. So that is one less problem with the car now.

buy it!

howdy Mike,
I've been away from this board for a while so I don't know TommyB nor if he still has his TGP or not.
Several years ago, I was in Dallas and saw another black TGP with some extra pinstriping on the side. Ever seen that car?
Around here, I've seen 2 reds and 2 black. One was for sale a few years ago and I looked at it for a guy from Washington. I don't think he ever bought the car.

the car is still available. I have some exterior images now I can send if you want to see it.  I'm working on some interior images too.
If you have any questions, ask!

Some of you may remember me from the other bulletin boards. Well, the time has come and I've made my decision to put it up for sale. I've had the car 12 years and want to pass it along to someone who will enjoy it as much as I did. I'm sad to see it just sit in the garage since I've got a new mistress (2 wheeler). Here are the details and I'll try to get some images up soon and will update when they are available.

1989 McLaren Turbo Grand Prix coupe
black on tan
61,000 miles
owned since 11/90, one previous owner
Garaged
AM/FM cassette
Leather seats
Sunroof
southeast Texas car (no snow!), never flooded
paint in very good condition
interior in very good condition
brakes good, new accumulator 09/01
ABS system good
transmission original, still shifts like new
tires good
no accidents
clear title
passes emissions testing easily
cold A/C
Overall Very Good condition

Extras:
Addco rear sway bar (original and Z34 rear sway bar also included)
Koni sport shocks in rear
Fresh strut cartridges in front
Spare set of gray 16x8 wheels and tires
Always serviced with Mobil 1 motor oil
Alternator replaced 06/02
Audiovox APS-2 alarm (90’s vintage) with remote door locks and ignition kill
Complete service/maintenance record since 1990
Large K&N open element air filter (original airbox included)
160degF thermostat
original owner’s manual
service manuals (GM, Haynes, Chiltons)
archived dealer literature

Exceptions:
Lower panels have some gravel chips, mostly in the clear coat
One chip in windshield (serviced, but still visible)
Driver’s seat leather is worn and cracked on thigh bolster
Carpet trim on door panels needs to be glued
Typical instrument panel problem, check gauges light stuck on (also on HUD)
Power antenna mast recently failed
Black paint around headlight housings peeling (paint on glass? What were they thinking?)
Carpet is worn under driver’s floormat
Paint on top of right exterior mirrors is faded
Suspected bad manifold vacuum/pressure sensor

This car is not perfect but is an exceptional example of a rare 13 year old car. It is mostly original, minimal modifications, no butchering, no engine modifications. The exception list is all you will find wrong with this car.  Everything else works as it should.
This car has never been to the dragstrip. It spends most of its days in the garage and goes out occasionally on weekends. I drove the car less than 2000 miles this past year. I’ve never had food in the car.
Asking $4500. e-mail me with questions, dkyeung@juno.com
