well i don't know....3 days after getting the chip my oil cooler line blew, which in turn made me spin a rod bearing and blow one of my pistong rings.......i never got a chance to install the chip.  but i didi swap the ECM boxes and that took care of my idle issues, even though it idles low at 5-600rpm........it took care of my car running rich problem and boost issues....now i have to take the motor out to rebuild again and install the new clutch.

Performance / My Turbo Cavalier Dyno Results!!!!

exactly, the 2.8/3.1 ecm boxes were only made for those 2.8/3.1 in our cavaliers/coriscas/berettas......the ecm's found in the w-bodies have the same clips and were used for the 2.5/2.8/3.1/3.4 and even the quad engine, so we really think its the ecm boxes/boards.....i'll keep ya updated on  the progress.

god10, i will name my first born son after you now...      I have  a spare  chip here that you can flash, its just my old 2.8 chip that i took out,its the same as the tgp chip but just a regular 2.8 memcal configuration, that and curtis says he has some old non-turbo grand prix ones, is there any difference? Let me know, i can mail the spare chips out tomorrow and have them there asap.   thanks again and let me know about any monetary issues.

hey TGPilot!    I have the TGP chip, just not the one tuned for the 5 speed yet, I am awaiting word from god910 still...I just dont have the TGP computer box itself, I basically slapped in the TGP memcal chip into my stock 2.8 computer box and let it run from there.   So now monday i have to go get the wiring harness form the TGP and connect one end ontop the TGP computer  , and the other end to my exisitng harness....almost done...(sigh)......almost!

Performance / My Turbo Cavalier Dyno Results!!!!

Well, 50/50 on success. here are the numbers:

These are at the wheel:

152.5 HP = 180HP crank assuming 15% drivetrain loss
253.8 Ft/lbs = 291ft/lbs at cranck assuming 15% drivetrain loss

Well guys, looking for any advice on what could be causing my HP problem.  Judging from the graph, it runs RICH!!! I have some some boost creep issues, due to maxing out the actuator. The boost hits 8psi then falls off to 5psi after about 3000rpm. So Monday I pick up my manual boost controller, and we are going to swap my stock ECM with the TGP ECM and put the TGP ECM/Chip into my car. Also, new clutch, the stock clutch does not hold all that torque very well, it slips in 4th and 5th. That should solve the HP loss. But in all the torque numbers are great and I am satisfied with the results. Videos will be posted in a few, we are currently capturing it on the computer.

hell just let me know if you have a paypal account or want me to send a money order, etc... name it man,  whatever is quickest.   I can send you  my spare chip to get flashed, that would make things easier I assume.  But update me as soon as you  get to hear anything.  thanks again for the help.  :D

If god910 is willing to get a copy of the chip that is in his car, I will name my first born son after him...seriously I think I would.  Right now all I can do is play with the IAC sensor but car still idles anywhere from 1400-1800rpm...kinda nice when standing at a light and hearing the turbo whine as you jsut sit there and other people look at you...but annoying t the same time because you wnat it to be a little quiter and smoother.   god910...c'mon, whats it gonna cost me?  i neep the help bad.  thanks again guys for all the help.  I really do appreciate it.

the thing is i don't have those wires that connected to the auto shifterthis was strictly a TGP engine slapped onto my current 5 speed in my cavalier  with just swapping the TGP ECM chips.  Everything runs great except the idle, we messed with the IAC sensor so now it idles too high, about 1400-1600rpm, which is better than having me to 2-foot it and keep it from stalling, btu nonetheless still annoying. I just might ahve to swap the whole computer out and  rewire it to attach to the TGP computer itself, curtis says he never had this problem when he swapped it into his first older red cavalier turbo.  I'll have to wait and see if we can get this thing to idle right first...

Darn, wrote to FPP website.  They said their chip is not for my turbo application.   TGPilot, if you are out there somewhere, I need your help pleeeeeease!  :D     This idling is giving me a headache, my only solution right now is cheating the throttle pin and lengthening it but the idle is still lumpy goin up and down...thanks again for the help guys...

Thank you for the link, I contacted them and are awaiting their reply.  Did most TGP owners who swapped to 5 speeds also have idling issues because of the 5 speed swap?
#14
what is the link to the this FPP site if you don't mind me asking...thanks again.

Hey thanks for the help everyone.  god910.  I'll email or PM you to see if you can help me if any, I'll send money, etc... whatever it takes for your time and assistance.  this idle thing is getting to me.   2-footing at every light to keep the idle up is a headache and any help is appreciated.  thanks again.
