Definitely stop by and keep us updated Dale. ;) I might have to check out Hybridz.org, I've always liked those cars, especially when V8 swapped. :icon_mrgreen:
The V-8 swap is not as hard as people think--there is a company called Jags That Run (JTR) who have swapped the SBC 350 in just about anything you can imagine.  they are the ones who started the Chevy S-10 V-8 swap books (I believe summit racing catalogs have these books in them)and have made numerous books on everything 350  small block chevy swaps/etc.  Check the website out, $10,000 can put you down into the high 10's low 11's if you use your money wisely.
    OK--I'm running off-topic here so I'll stop.......

Off Topic / Re: Help needed, re: "Salvage Title"
January 17, 2008, 12:29:21 PM
I do not believe that you can get a clean title after it has been designated "SALVAGE".  Safety inspections are usually required at State facilities and a certified rebuilder sometimes must do the work.
HERES A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THIS MATTER IF YOU CARE TO READ ON....Back in the early to mid 90's a lot of vehicle title fraud was happening between bordering states.  Some poor bastards like myself would go across a border and buy a car (in Iowa) (from Illinois).  I get a IOWA title that says duplicate but not rebuilt or salvage on it (even though somewhere along the line a salvage title was issued--I presume the guy did not even keep the rebuild title after having the car "recertified" through the state as he had saved the duplicate title).  Poor bstrd takes it back to Illinois to do a title transfer and ILLINOIS title comes back saying rebuilt. .  Poor b'd wonders how this happened and inquires to find out that Illinois has a good title search that always locates a vehicle that has been totaled through insurance claim.   I was furrious and was nearly arrested in Iowa later in the week pounding on the guys front door.  To make a Long story short (or longer)--this is a little more difficult to get away with now than it was back then....States have much better ways to track the accidents now than 10-15 years ago.......Happened to me with a  '87 5.0 mustang LX in 92 when I came home from USMC.  Illinois never charged this guy with any fraud....and I was stuck with a car that dogtracked and was valued at $2,400 and spent $6K.

General / Thanks to all who have helped along the way
January 17, 2008, 09:31:08 AM
Just want to say thanks to the people on the board who have helped me in the past.  TGPilot, Idbeast, JeffM, Chris A, Invasion 1, and if I left anyone out special thanks to all of you  :icon_biggrin:  And thanks to anyone else for tidbits of info.

From removing the motor and rebuilding it to replacing bulbs behind the speedometer this is one of the best, most informative message boards on the web.  I belong to Hybridz.org which is a board that is dedicated to the progressive modification of Datsun/Nissan Z's and they will make you feel small sometimes as a newbie.  This site has never made me feel small no matter how basic the question I may have asked.  It is weird selling the last of my TGP parts  :icon_cry: that have sat in the garage for the past year or two--I always thought that I would do another TGP but family, work, and all the other day to day stuff takes up the time that I used to dedicate towards this all consuming hobby.
I am building a '77 Datsun 280z now with 350 SBC  :icon_twisted: and it is even more time consuming than ever.  I will miss the comaraderie that I have enjoyed on here  :icon_cry: but will surely stop back in and visit from time to time and maybe even post a snapshot of my car if it ever gets out of this bare metal/motor on engine stand stage it has been in for the last 6 months.

Again thanks to all those who have helped and keep this site going cause here pretty soon somebody will notice this car for what it really was/is...a diamond in the rough. :icon_mrgreen:
Have fun and God Bless all of you,
  Dale Malcolm.

For Sale / Want to Buy / Last of my TGP parts for sale
January 13, 2008, 09:14:16 PM
I have a computer w/memcal, alternator (130 AMP from O'reilly 06/06 I believe), drivers side fog lamp, drivers side glass headlight, power antenna w/mast, serpentine belt, oil/coolant lines for turbo, map sensor, trans cooler, intercooler, a couple silicone turbo hoses, many hose clamps, 1 gold crosslace wheel, and a ceramic coated front valve cover (looks chrome).  $6.00 + shipping will cover any of these items other than the comp w/memcal (selling on ebay), the alternator ($20.00 + shipping), and the wheel ($12.00 +shipping).  All parts are in working condition/were when I totaled the car in Dec '06.  Also have a 1989 GP service manual in decent condition (used it a lot) and TSTE (4 door turbo) supplement in great condition.  Most of this stuff is mentioned on the ebay listing but I am not going to waste my time/money lisitng on there unless someone really wants it so if any of this sells there I will remove it from this or note that it has been sold.  Need some space and/or cashflow for my 350 SBC Datsun.  Let me know if you want any of this as it is going to the landfill on March 1 if not sold.  If someone wants all of it I would do $60.00 + shipping just to get it out of my way.  I'm located in Omaha, NE.  Thanks for any interest, Dale Malcolm.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ALTERNATOR, INTERCOOLER, VALVE COVER, POWER ANTENNA, AND COMPUTER/MEMCAL HAVE ALL BEEN SOLD AND THE REST MAY ALL GO TO THE SAME PERSON.  THANKS FOR ALL THE INTEREST!!!!

ANOTHER UPDATE, ANOTHER UPDATE, ANOTHER UPDATE.........I also have the upper charge pipe to throttle body, throttle body, lower pipe from turbo to intercooler, and a bunch of hose clamps--meltboy11 wants everything that is left and if I do not receive some emails (parts that are spoken for but not paid for) he will have the rest of this stuff in a big box Monday.  THANKS FOR ALL THE INTEREST.

For Sale / Want to Buy / Re: HONEST SELLER/BUYER LIST
February 21, 2007, 05:07:12 AM
OK, I told Bake 82 that I had a better offer and sold the crossover, is that not what I should have done.  I work a full time job 60+ hours a week, sometimes I don't have time to read and respond to emails/messages every day.  When I knew that his offer was not enough , he was made aware of it so don't start in on me about letting the person know, Thomas Waltman accepted that I did not want to sell this part for the amount he offered and he just said OK.  I did not respond to his offer in the same day either IIRC.  My balls do not need to be broken because this guy is crying bad deal, I will end the lowballer comments but I guarantee you that the only bullshit here is BAKE 82's perception of what went on in that transaction.  If I gave all the people on here negative feedback that have said "OK, that sounds good, I'll take it" and then no payment, I would really be crowding this thread.  But instead I just accept the fact that maybe they forgot, don't have the money, young and very talkative, etc.  Move on and get over it is the best thing to do so I'll end my speech.........no more on this subject from me.  Thanks for all the + feedback,  Dale Malcolm.

The member formerly known as GangstGP--great buyer and good communicator.  Sold crossover to him for the amount I requested--powermaster sale pending payment.  Not a lowballer.  I appreciate people that do not haggle with you like you are at a flea market, swap meet or gun show.   Thanks Rick, I will have to put some momento in the V-8 Datsun 280z to honor these parts and their contribution to the project.  Dale Malcolm.
