General / Need help with my TGP...
August 10, 2012, 02:47:47 PM
Hi. I have a 1990 Pontiac TGP that I have shamefully let sit and rot. I am at a crossroads wo.dering if it is worth restoring it, if I should sell it for.parts or just donate it. It wont start now, needs new tires and paint, hubby says its rusty underneath, it was in a crash about 12 years ago so it has a 1991 front end on it and radiator (I know...dont ask me how they did it either.) It ran perfect then developed a power steering fluid leak and instead of getting it fixed, I bougbt another car and parked it, tossed a cover on it and there it sat. Need help deciding what to do. Is it worth it to restore it? Thanks for any help.

General / Hi!! Snip's back and looking for old friends!!!
December 31, 2007, 09:49:41 AM
Hi everyone! LTNS! I joined a w-body message board and Matt told me that I still had an "account" with this message board!! (Thanks Matt!)

So say HI if you know me (Jim? Jeff? Brian? You guys out there somewhere?!?) and if you don't, then:
Hi! My name is Snip! I own a cosmetically challenged but purrs like a kitten black 1990 TGP with around 125,000 miles on it. It needs a nice paint job, the rear lights replaced and the interior peeled away in spots due to a leak I didn't know that I had and the interior got flooded. =(         Also, I have a leak either in a power steering hose or the pump itself is bad. I will have that looked at closer in the spring when I start on my TGP restoration project. I love my car. I have never been able to sell it. I can't unattach. That car and I have been through a lot together and we are bonded!! My son will be driving in about 1-1/2 years and won't he just LOVE it?!?!? It will be all restored in that time and all his buddies will be like "Hey DC, WTF did you get that sweet ass ride?!?!"  And I will stand there and smile proudly and say "It's his Mom's. He's just borrowing it."  LOLOLOL

Say hi!!!

General / Hood Louvers
January 23, 2004, 09:57:16 PM
This is an FYI about the hood louvers. My passenger side louver flew off last summer. My brother who works at a GM parts place got me one for Christmas and get this....you can ONLY buy the passenger side louver. The drivers side is discontinued and you can't get them anymore. And I am sure as soon as the warehouse runs out of the others that will be it.

That's all for now.

General / Boat load of parts on eBay right now
December 29, 2003, 09:40:18 AM
I just came from eBay and there are parts galore on there right now. I contacted him about some parts that I need that weren't listed. My brother is getting me a new hood vent louver to replace the one that flew off this summer. As fate would have it,  my brother works for GM parts now!!! That will come in REAL handy!!

How has everyone been? My car is still running perfect since the mechanic switch. It is stored now for the winter but I pick it up from the storage place once a month or so and drive it. Plans for it this year are to convert the AC, replace the hood vent louver and a new paint job. I can't wait!!

Problems & Solutions / Gasp!! (Purple TGP Looks Horrid)
September 05, 2003, 10:57:43 PM
Well, people don't usually go around painting these cars funky colors. Nice ones are rare and perfect in red or black. The purple isn't a bad color, it's just a bad color for a wonderful TGP. Broke my heart to see it all funkified. Glad you like it...glad I don't!

Hi everyone,

I know you haven't heard from li'l ol me for a while...and that is because my car is running great!!!!!!!!! But I was screaming down the freeway a month ago and one of my hood louvers flew off of my car and into oblivion!! So I need a new one. Where can I get one?

My transmission is doing whacky things. (It has been since my ordeal with the not so good mechanic.) The symptom is when I pull to a stop and then accelerate without fully stopping, especially if that stop is going uphill, the tranmission doesn't engage and acts like it's in neutral. The engine revs, I let up on the accelerator and then it "pops" into gear and all is well. I checked the fluid yesterday and there seems to be too much in there (which would lead back to the not so good mechanic because he was the one taking car of that) and I checked it a few times just to make sure that I was reading it right. There is fluid clear up to the first "curve" in the stick.  Sigh. Suggestions?

I found a guy in Tacoma to restore the interior of my car. It needs to be fixed badly. I decided to leave the stock stereo in it and get a cd changer for the trunk. If you get a new in-dash stereo for these cars, do your steering wheel controls still work with the new stereo??? And then, once I get a new louver, it's off the paint shop. I love my car... :D

I just turned 40 in June and I have posted my birthday photos. My family bought me (gasp) golf lessons. I haven't taken them yet but I really want to learn. I work across the street from a private golf course/community. I have been there for 20 years and have never golfed!! My customers say "it's about eff-ing time"!!!

Looking forward to your replies,

Snip

February 05, 2003, 02:18:51 PM
Thanks for the clarification Red.

After I got home, I turned the car off and then sat for 30 seconds and then started it and it went out and hasn't come back on since.

It's still running great!!!

Thanks,

Snip

Hello everyone! I talked with Idbeast today and he gave me this message board to come to. I didn't know it existed...I had been going to the w-body one. Maybe this one fits better?!?!?!

I was driving down I-5 this afternoon and my anti lock light started blinking...and just when I thought NOTHING would happen ever again. It's just my psycho car reminding me who's boss I guess. Anyhow, when I got home I turned the car off and then back on and no light but I am going to check the fluid in the morning. Do I have to do that "pump the brakes 40 times" thing before I open up the brake fluid chamber? Or can I just rip it open like I always do???   Let me know...I will check back here before I do that in the morning.

Anyhow, it was great to talk to Idbeast today...it had been a long time. Now if I could only hear Jeff M's sweet voice in my ear again, my life will be complete again.

Talk later,

Snip
