I thought i saw a post on here before with where to get cheaper door handles for the 1990 TGP. I have tried searching the forums with no such luck.
I was using my passenger door to get in for like a week. Then of course it broke and i was stuck outside of a Wal-mart until a friend came to rescue me. Until i get a new one/or two, im going to have to leave a window cracked and hope it doesnt rain and that my alarm will scare away would-be burglers.

Anyways i was just wondering where to get replacements and how to put them on. I know someone has some info! Thanks alot!

Hehe,    Thanks for all the input. I think i will just buy it and take it into the shop. The dude at the shop i went to before said he would give me the switch and install it for like 150$. I laughed and said $150 for that little plastic thing.

So i suppose if i buy it and take it somewhere the most i will be charged is like 50 bucks hopefully. Whats labor cost nowadays?  Thanks alot guys! and thanks for the pics!

PS.... Would a new brakeswitch help at all with the voltage acting all weird in the car when the brake is applied? (Such as dimming lights)

Theres a problem with the brake light switch i was told at a shop that keeps the brake lights either on or not coming on at all. I know most of you already know this. Anyways i think i found the same switches online, just wanted to make sure these are the right ones.

http://www.partsamerica.com/SelectParts.asp?SourceArea=&PartType=422&PTSet=A&Description=Switches&SourcePage=PartTypes&SearchFor=Stoplight+Switch

Also has anyone changed these, if so where is it located and how hard is it to fix? Thanks!

I did a search on overheating and found not much on the subject. I had overheating problems with my previous engine and after a new one was installed i have have had no problems. BUT going up some hills i noticed that the temperature got right below the RED mark which is i believe about 260. Is this normal? I was a little worried it would move into the red as it was right on the borderline, but it never did.

Just curious as to if anybody ever gets right below the red and if thats ok to do.

ALSO... Do you guys use DEXCOOL coolent as I think i am suppose to use that but i am using regular coolant now. Will DEXCOOL make a significant difference in the cooling of the engine?

General / My New TGP...Red With Grey Interior
February 02, 2004, 01:01:13 AM
$300 bucks!?   Nice find on that one! I paid about 10X that much to find out the 2nd time I drive it it starts overheating and I have to install a whole new engine. Hopefully you got a nice car and learn from my experience to keep an eye on ALL the fluids.

thanks guys.. Just curious.. wouldnt giving it gas and not having your car go anywhere hurt your car a bit also?

Ok so someone wants a race and your at a light. Whats the best way to go about getting the edge off the line? How bad is it on your engine and transmission to put it in neutral and rev it up to like 2-3k then drop it into gear? I have done this in previous cars but not in my TGP for I am scared to do any damage. Also if you have tried this does the car have safeties to prevent damage to the tranny if you do this?

Since i have never done this I  most of the time just smash on the gas. Do you think its better to ease on the gas through first then to just punch it, as sometimes it feals a little bogged down.

Thanks for your opinions!

I ordered ru-1760 off the website www.ajusa.com and it finally came. It is the PERFECT size for this car I think. Fits perfect and doesnt go over the intercooler at all. The sound is great that it makes and the car picks up alot faster!

Performance / Automatic Shifting
January 15, 2004, 10:32:07 PM
ya I have 2 motor mounts installed right now. They seem fine. Dont know what i could tweak to make it any better. I use to have shock type mounts instead of just metal ones and it did the same thing. The main thing im worried about is the kicking hurting anything. If its just a shake and not like seriously damaging anything i dont really mind.

Performance / Automatic Shifting
January 15, 2004, 03:07:57 PM
Hey ive been reading many threads here but this is my first post. I have an automatic '90 TGP. My question is when I punch it from a stop i get moving pretty quick of course, but then when it switches to second gear its like a litttle KICK. Like it could be a little smoother or something. Someone told me the previous owner tried installing a shift kit but it didnt work out right.

I dont know whether to believe him or is that how they are suppose to shift? Also any suggestions on where to let off the gas a little in an AUTO to have it switch gears for the maximum acceleration and boost?

Anyone that has an automattic if you can just post how your car shifts and if its smooth or does it kick a little.

Also, all the oils and tranny fluid are right where they are suppose to be.
