General / TGP footage
July 04, 2004, 10:38:46 PM
Hello guys! I never seen a tgp at my local track in action, better yet I never really seen "any" TGP in action. Everyone has pictures of there cars and a few sound clips pop up here and there, but where are the TGP vids? Anyone have any footage that I can view? It doesn't matter if your racing or just cruising around...I want to see it.

Please send to dannymik1@adelphia.net

Thanks Dan

I still have this TGP. It needs to go. I've held out as long as I could. If someoe dosen't buy it it very soon it will be parted. I really dont want to shread the <A TITLE="Click for more information about car" STYLE="text-decoration: none; border-bottom: medium solid green;" HREF="http://search.targetwords.com/u.search?x=5977|1||||cars|AA1VDw">car</A>, but if I must, I must.

Updates: Needs a battery and most likely a starter. Parked it after trying to start it killed the battery and sent all the gaugues on the dash going nuts. Pretty sure the starter has grounded internally.

I have posted the orignial text from the old post.

Greetings folks.

It's been a while since I've been to the board. Well the time has come to move on something else. So I must sell my 1990 GTP. I'm offering it here first because the general public dosent understand or apprciate these cars, and I would hate to see it get destroyed due to miss understanding or lack of knowledge of the car. I dont have the time right now to dedicate to restoring this car. Here;s the details:

1990 Pontiac Gran Prix GTP
158k miles
Red, with beachwood interior
Bone stock.
Whats wrong : paint is shot, driver seat is torn badly, headliner is starting to droop, front air dam is in shreads (have new replacment)

All the following parts were replaced within the last two years, 10-20k mi.

ABS - acumulator, pressure switch
Ignition- all three coils (GM-Delco), ign. modul (GM-Delco),wires (GM), Plugs-Rapid fires
Cooling- right side elctric fan motor and blade
Emissions- O2 sensor, Idel control valve at throttle plate
Brakes- both rear calipers, front and rear pads, front rotors front calipers
Power antenea - mast and cable
Park Brake - Front cable (GM)
Heater - Core (Autozone)

What needs to be done: Turbo wastegate actuator vlave is bad (Scarry on the road!)
Check gagues light is stuck on the dash. Feels like it needs an alignment
Head rest air blader on driver side not working
Power door locks takes to two or three hits with the switch to lock(driver)
Express window down dose not work
Tape player will get stuck just keep flipping
Keyless entry is flaky
Trans slams when you dont step on the gas hard enough, otherwise works fine.

What still works: Radio(no cd) hud, sun(Moon) roof, power seat, pw, tilt, ac,ptrunk, cruise, all air bladers (except those mentioned) , Power mirrors, Compass, trip computer, steering wheel controls, all the gagues,

Tires are still good, runs strong, no smoke, Trans oil was changed when I got it (25k mi ago) oil change regularly at 3500, running mobile 1 synthetic, still has original wheels, owners manual, keys, remote, exhaust and exhaust tips.

By no means a show car, but still looks ok and runs like a bat out of H---
when you get on the gas. No mods have been done. I have taken this car to Las Vegas several times with no problems, San Deigo, Sacramento and Flagstaff Az. Each time with no problems. I have no doubt that this car could make an interstate drive with out problems. Just top off the fulids, fill er up with gas and hit the road.

$2400. 00 Obo, In the Los Angeles area. Pix on request.

I'd like to see a TGP with that dark metallic blue that the Aleros come in and then polish the rims.

General / new member who wants a TGP!

Quote from: Chris AOk, so the ones you can afford aren't to your liking, and the ones you want you don't want to pay for.

My suggestion, save more money.

What are you looking to spend?

Your on the right track...the expensive ones are inflated a bit too much. I will spend $4000 if the car is excellent. I have had chances to buy ones as low as $600, but you'll get a headache trying to fix them. I'm not a mechanic, just someone who is slowly learning the common habits of these w-bodys. I love these cars and want a TGP. Its like a common argument in my head to spend the xtra cash for a newer GTP or a more unique TGP. I want speed with the vision of someone looking at me dumbfounded when I wipe my ass with them!  Plus its embarrasing for me to only know of these rare cars, because of the w-body forum. I thought I knew a lot about the different series that the grand prix's were manufactures in...therefore my ignorance has driven me towards a lustful feeling to own one of these.  My only concern is the $$$ to keep it up and running the way I want it to with the burden of my '95 Cutlass needing some of my check(the life of a GM car after 70K). Sometimes you have to give a little to get what you want with the addition of patience helping you along the way!
