For Sale / Want to Buy / Re: Red 90 TGP in MD
March 09, 2009, 10:40:06 AM
This is my car. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions. I took it off the market when it developed some engine problems. Then my mechanic was hit with some health issues so it sat for quite some time. By the time we got back to it the engine had very low compression and we decided to replace the engine with a 3.1 from a 92 or 93 (I'll check with the mechanic on that) GP and swapped the turbo goodies. The car runs quite strong now. I'm willing to discount it to someone on the group to get it into the hands of another enthusiast.

I sold this car to it's current owner last year as a parts car. The engine needed a new head gasket (I'm guessing it still does) and the tranny is going up. The body is nice with the usual GM paint fade in a couple spots and the interior is nice. I was having a problem with speedo calibration when it was running.

Thanks for the welcome! Unfortunately, family matters kept me away from the wife's car last weekend. Hopefully this weekend will be more productive.

Hey, if you're still doing those ground cables I'd be interested in 2 sets! E-mail me if they're available.

Problems & Solutions / Re: Speedo Issues

Thanks for the heads up on the heads up! I'm really interested in knowing if the resistor fix works. That sounds like something I can handle. I'm much better with electronics than engine work, but I'm learning. If worse comes to worse I'll just switch out clusters so my wife's car reads correctly.

Problems & Solutions / Speedo Issues

My wife's TGP has an odd problem; The OHD speedo is reading different than the in-dash speedo. The OHD speedo seems to be reading correctly but, at 65mph (on the OHD) the in-dash speedo was showing 80! After driving the car to work today, I think it has been modded by the previous owner. It definitely has more pick-up than my TGP, which is stock. It does have an aftermarket air cleaner on the turbo and a lower temp thermostat. I'm guessing it has a chip as well. I won't be able to get into it until Sat. morning. Any suggestions as to where to start? Thanks!

General / Newbie Here.....

Hi! I just joined the forum a couple weeks ago when I bought a 90 TGP with only 68k! My wife loved the car and I thought I might be losing it to her as we were looking for a car for her as also. Well, on the way home Monday from looking at another car that she hated we spotted a black GP with a for sale sign in the window. We pulled over and found out it was another 90 TGP and she just had to have it! So now we're a 2 TGP family! Now for the bad: Her TGP has 133k on it and a few issues which I'm hoping to find the answers for here. But, hey, she had to have it......
