For Sale / Want to Buy / I hate to do this already but...
November 28, 2002, 02:44:48 PM
There is one day left of the auction and I just lowered the reserve a couple hundred dollars to $2300.  Right now anything near that would take it. I gave over $3000 for the car just months ago, and I've only put about 2,000 miles on the car since September.  So I think that's a steal of a price for the car.

I put my Turbo on Ebay today.  Nothing really wrong with it other than the crossover pipe.  I love the car and it kills me to do this after such short time.  But I have bought a new car and have to let this one go.  Sorry if I butchered any TGP facts in my ad but I was in a hurry and gave this message board a plug in the ad.  I just hate that the first pics you get to see of my beauty are of it for sale.

Problems & Solutions / Exhaust manifold or Xover
November 03, 2002, 10:08:29 PM
Great, I finally got it pegged as the problem.  The car is going into storage hopefully tomorrow so I will have it fixed in the spring and do the Xover and the topgun 160 all at the same time.

Problems & Solutions / Exhaust manifold or Xover
November 01, 2002, 11:24:51 AM
I got my car tuned up this morning and boy does she run now.  I've only drove the car 1,500 miles since i got it 3 months ago.  All plugs were burnt and some of the plug wires had electrical tape around them.

I got to looking today though and on the front part of the engine on the drivers side is where my exhuast leak is coming from.  I hit the gas up by the TB and could see the smoke coming out of the manifold.  The crossover pipe comes out the back of the turbo correct?  Meaning I have a cracked manifold/header instead of a crossover pipe.  I just thought the Xover was on the back part of the engine bay.

If it is my manifold how would I go about getting it fixed.  Do I just take it somewhere and have it welded.  Or do I dare ask what one costs brand new.

One other thing, should I be worried if at idle my oil pressure goes to 1 or 2 notches below 40.  It just worries me a bit.

According to Erich and Dave the 90 is better than the 89.  The 89's compass is always needing reset and the screen does not show as bright in the daytime.  So I am wanting to do this swap because as hard as i've followed the rules on setting the compass, it always wants me to recalibrate. It's worth 25 or 30 bucks to me, can you cut me a deal.

Problems & Solutions / cross over pipe

So if mine is cracked could it make a sound like a leaky exhaust manifold?

Thanks for the info though, I will check it out tomorrow in the daylight.

Problems & Solutions / cross over pipe
September 17, 2002, 07:38:16 PM
I asked about this a while back but was givin a link to turbograndprix.com in response.

I need a photo or any demonstration for someone to show me exactly which pipe is the cross over.  I can hear an exhuast leak, if it was a bad crack could it be heard.  I am also getting 200 miles per tank in the city and can smell it running rich, a sign the o2 sensor is off.

Thanks in advance.

General / On the side for a few more days
September 06, 2002, 10:36:55 PM
I ran into some issues with some roomates of mine and I'm currently in the process of moving back in with the parents for a few months.  I just should be a few more days till I get the wireless router plugged up here and then I'll be back on posting regular again.  I'm hoping to sell my 95 Beretta 2.2 5spd here soon and then get the X over pipe and chip.  I also found a place to store the car over winter, with room to do some work.  So things are looking up already.

Take a risk and see what she will do.  I'll contribute about $10 if you do lose it :)  But go out and see what it will do, you owe it to yourself.

I pulled a radio out of a 90 TGP this week at a Junkyard.  It is a nice one too.  Has the EQ and all that on it.  I also bought the housing that it sits in if anyone with an 89 wants it to be able to put an aftermarket in.

My only problem is I'm not sure how much I wanna let this radio go for. Sorry but it is a cassete.

I did not see one in the car, I had already looked for it.  You may try ebay, I see quite a few on there that would work for around that price.

Exterior/Interior/Lighting / lighting

Are you talking about those lights in the back seats that all the people in back to like read a book or the lights on the back part of the door?  If so I can get you either one thursday, just tell me how to remove them.  I have an upholstery puller, do I just use that and take the whole panel off and remove them that way.  Or do they just pop out.

These are two hours away from me, but I will down there parting out another car from a yard 10 min from there.

Sorry to say but someone beat me to this car already.  The hood was missing so I did not get the parts you needed.  The motor and the turbo did not look like they were in good shape.  The intercooler for some reason was laying inside the car so I took that.  And I left the radiator cause it did not look good, the grills on it were all pushed in.
