Exterior/Interior/Lighting / Sunroof & Trunk needed
September 20, 2002, 04:42:13 PM
I have a 1990 TGP and the darn thing doesn't have a sunroof.  I live in Traverse City, MI and go to College in Midland, MI.  Anyone nearby know where I can get a sunroof?  If so, where can I take it to get it installed, cause I don't have the slightest idea how to put it in.  Once again, I go to college...therefor I am poor.  Inexpensive suggestions only please.

I also need a Trunk with a spoiler.  (Black)  the previous owner had a problem with the paint on the trunk and decided to spraypaint over it.  Not to appealing to the eye.

Electronics/Audio/Security / message display
September 20, 2002, 04:05:02 PM
I went and got an oil change and also put in a new air filter.  and the message display still says "change oil"  and "change air filter".  Is the display on a counter (and needs to be reset) or does it have sensors that can tell if you need an oil change or a new air filter.  What do I do?

Performance / start up
September 20, 2002, 03:21:29 PM
My 1990 GTP doesn't start up right away, i usually have to hold the key for about 3 seconds before it starts up.  It turns over about 5 times before it starts.  Is this normal?

Also, after starting up (usually when cold).  I let it warm up for about 30 seconds and then when i go to take off, i press down on the gas petal and it boggs out and sometimes stalls, but it only does it for about a second or two and then once i get the rpm's up it runs fine.  Do I need to let it warm up more?

I have an auto trans.

Electronics/Audio/Security / Check Guage Light???
September 20, 2002, 03:07:24 PM
You know how when the gas guage gets near empty and the "Check Guage" light turns on and the little orange light turns on underneath the fuel gauge.  Well, Mine does that whenever it feels like it.  I could have a full tank and the check fuel light will turn on.  and sometimes it is just the check gauge light. (sorry i can't spell very well)  but anyways.  Sometimes it just turns on, sometimes it flickers a little.  It gets quite annoying after a while.  When the light comes on I check my guages 'like it says' and they are all working properly and nothing seems to be wrong.  Is this normal?  Is there an easy way to fix it?

Oh!  and one more thing...what kind of gas mileage do all of you get?  I get anywhere between 17mpg -20mpg on average.  it seems kinda low.  If it is lower than average, what could be wrong.  I use Premium Unleaded fuel (usualy between 92-94 octane rating)  and if the gas station has it, i usually put in a bottle of octane booster, to boost it up to the high 90's.  when i do this the gas mielage is usually higher but not as high as i would like.
Maybe there is nothing wrong with my car, I do tend to get up to speed as quickly as possible    I do love speed.  It could be the way I drive? Maybe I should just change my driving habbits?

How can I check if it has Keyless Entry?

I just got a 1990 TGP but I didn't get a remote with it.  I was just wondering if Keyless Entry is stock? And if it is, where can i get a remote for it?

Performance / General Info?
September 20, 2002, 02:02:23 PM
I got my 1990 Turbo Grand Prix about 2 months ago.  But there was no Owners Manual with it or any info on it.  As far as I know, it is all stock. Basically all I know about my car is what I can see.

Does anyone have a link or anything where I can find out what the specs on my car are.  Cause when someone asks me about my car, I would like to know what the hell I am talking about.

Performance / speedometer & HUD
September 20, 2002, 01:57:06 PM
I got my 1990 Turbo Grand Prix about 2 months ago.  It had about 68K on it.  As far as I know it is basically all stock.  So far it is running great.  But one thing I noticed is that the speedometer on the dash and the HUD are not the same.  My speedometer on the dash would bottom out at 120 but the HUD would only say 110.  The difference is exponential though.  the faster I go, the larger the difference is.  The speedometer would say 60 and the HUD would say 55.

What one is the correct speed?  As far as I am concerned, the speedometer on the dash is correct.    But if a cop asks, I go by the HUD.  :D  Is this a common thing?  Is it easy to fix?
