Problems & Solutions / ECM?
August 15, 2013, 09:34:24 PM
I've been prepping my front end and valance the last month for new paint. My buddy uptown called and said his PPG salesman was there and to run it up so we could get the exact shade of 8774 ordered. It hadn't ran for awhile so after I got uptown I let it idle for 20 minutes or so. After I figured it was charged up enough I walked over and shut it off. Twenty minutes later I get in to leave and it just turns over and over and over.

We didn't have time for any precision testing but here's what we were able to find out; There's pressure at the rail (shot up and hit the hood insulation). We pulled a plug and there's spark. What we did find that was not working was the injector(s). When we pulled an injector wire and put a tester bulb on it, it didn't light. So the three questions I'm mulling over is;

-Does the ECM power the injectors?
-If by coincidence the one injector wire we pulled was bad, would the car still run on the other 5?
-Why would a perfectly idling car not have injection after it was shut off?

No codes by the way, which is weird, because it was storing a 42 up until tonight... It did flash a 1-2 1-2 1-2 over and over which I think it means it's clear, but Would a fried ECM even flash a 1-2?

Thanks in advance.

How much "life" do you figure is left in the PMIII? Would you consider selling just the Accumulator? (That is if it's fairly new).

For Sale / Want to Buy / Re: PMIII Accumulator Wanted

The inevitable has happened. The Anti-Lock light is blinking. I'd really like to replace the accumulator, but am not having any luck finding one. Anyone have an extra one, or know where to get one?

Took the battery in and it tested bad. Bought a new one and everything seems fine. I couldn't believe it. I figured once a car was started, the alternator would be enough to run the car.

Got the car off the trailer at my folk's last night. The in-line fuse near the battery looked fine. I put a test light on the alternator 'power out' tested fine. the 'big' connector on the alternator harness cable tested fine. I did find a 30amp fuse in the passenger side fuse panel under the hood that looked dark, but not broken. It's the lower right one, the owner's manual said "ignition" something or other. I guess I'll replace that and see what happens. Before I left last night I put my charger on there and had my dad to take it off after a couple hours. See what happens tonight I guess.

I left for work yesterday morning and a few miles down the road I noticed my turn signals were hesitating. Then my radio cut out. Then I noticed the volt light. My quick diagnosis was alternator. Then when I was done for the day I figured it wouldn't even start. It did, ran 12 miles until the battery ran out and there I was. I pulled the alternator off last night and had it tested today. It's fine. 14.5 volts..... Any ideas on what my next step is here?

I'm back to square 1. I ordered one right away from the link Penglii provided. Then all of a sudden the next day or two they weren't available. I was hoping I got the last one, but now a week and a half later I checked with them and they can't find one. So the order is cancelled. Anyone else have a good lead?

Sweet, Thanks.

Are you sure 18M874 is the right part? I thought it was 18013994 or 88927271.

For Sale / Want to Buy / PMIII Accumulator Wanted

Does anyone have an extra accumulator they'd like to sell to me? I'd like to get one on hand. I'm at about 1-2 pumps right now, so it'd be a little while before I change it. But I can't find one anywhere.
