For Sale / Want to Buy / White 90 STE
February 25, 2004, 09:48:59 PM
1. $$ PRICE $$ and mileage! Make offer or $8,000 obo is not acceptable! $3500...The mileage is somewhere under 150000.  The car is in St. Louis, MO and I am unable to check.
2. Exterior Color and Condition of the car...needs paint, has dents, good, mint, etc...
It is in good condition.  The paint could use attention.  I repainted the hood with paint I had mixed via the paint code.  Needless to say...the rest of the car doesn't quite match the color it was 14 yrs ago.
3. Interior Color and Condition of the car...torn seats, beer stained carpet, no headliner, good, mint, etc...
Interior is grey cloth with the headliner falling in a couple of spots.
4. Accessories...Gauges all work or not, Wiper/Wash wipes but no wash, A/C works or not, HUD is working or not, Stereo is CD or Cassette and works or not, All Seat functions work or list what doesn't, Sunroof works or not, etc...
This is the basic STE...no hud...no leather...no sun roof.  Seats work, Cassette not CD and it works along with all the steering wheel controls, A/C evaporator just replaced
5. Running condition...Performance Chip?, Crossover Pipe?, needs new motor, needs turbo, smokes, rod or bearing knock, stalls, surges, tranny problems, ABS or brake warning lights, fluid leaks of any kind, etc... DSM BOV, 24# Accel Injectors, ABS has been switched over to Vacuum so the brake light is on, Motor was rebuilt about 15000 miles ago...once again...this is an estimate.  I can get exact numbers for anyone that is interested.
6. List of new, recently changed, or needed to be changed expendable parts on the car...New Brakes, New tires, New wheel bearings, New CV joints, New exhaust, etc...
New tires about 2000 miles ago, all newer brakes
I have taken this car on a couple of road trips and I averaged 35 mpg cruising at about 75.

Performance / Fuel injectors
May 08, 2003, 08:05:11 AM
Sorry I haven't posted much lately...school sucks this semester.  Now I know why my advisor looked at me funny when he said "you realize nine of these hours are thermo based classes?"  Anyways.  I went down to Florida for spring break and I drove the STE.  Only had a couple problems  The brakelight switch broke and I had to pull it out and fix it in the parking lot of the hotel because the brake lights were permenantly on or disconnected.  That and I had a tire come apart and was forced to buy four shitty tires in Alabama.
But back to the original reason for the post...I drove down there with myself and 3 other guys all averaging about 200# each and all of our luggage and enough liquor to kill an elephant.  I got 35 mpg running about 75 mph the whole way.  If that's not f@*$'n awesome I don't what is.

Performance / Fuel injectors

Sorry its been so long.  That car never ceses to piss me off.  The transmission hates to shift at WOT and it still smokes, but only on rare ocasions.  I finally changed my oil return line, but it still does it.  Its weird.  It runs for a week without smokeing then it will litterally make you want to run form it in fear it smokes so bad.  Then it will quit smoking again.

Anyway, as far as the injectors (which the smoking was my original reason for discovering they were bad, that and it quit running and kept flooding itself when I tried to start it) they are working great.  Unless they are leaking and causeing my smoke.  I doubt it...I would think an injector would be all the time.  I still haven't put a new air cleaner on it.  I don't want to spend any money on a car that has 10,000 miles on a rebuild that smokes.  Its so misterious.  It doesn't act like a normal car that would smoke.
The car does smell a little rich when I start it at first.  I haven't noticed a change in fuel economy.  I would say that the factory ecm is doing a great job of compensating for the bigger injector.  And if you use the calculator for flow requirements on the Accel web page...it will show that the 22lb/hr injectors are just right.  I want a factor of safety.  That is why I went with the 24.  I was also afraid that the Accel flow rating may not agree with the MultiTec and once again I wanted to be safe.
All in all, I am happy with my injectors.  I don't race the car, because it doesn't shift like I would want it to and that causes it to embarrass me with times like I don't even want to mention on here.

The injectors...along with a new air cleaner and a chip that allows more boost...I think would be great.  The ECM will compensate for the small change in flow rate.  That is what the O2 sensor is for.

Does anybody have a K&N that they would be willing to part with.  I know there are a few styles people try.  Maybe there is an extra laying around.  I really want one but funds are keeping me from ordering one.

I have a 90 STE and it doesn't have any in the dash...just the 4 in the front doors...2 in the rear...and 2 behind the rear seat.

I'm starting to get used to them...but the body color wheels on the STE are kinda ugly (IMO)

General / adding a turbo
October 25, 2002, 08:39:42 PM
Like he said...you would have to change the Rack to change the ratio.  I don't think it is something you would feel like doing.  Fill the front tires to their maximum pressure that is listed on the side wall of the tire.  That will make it seem to steer easier.  Also check the fluid.  Its the black resevoir at the passanger side with the cap on it.

Thanks...Do you know about me maybe needing to go with a different MAP sensor or something?  I'm scared of what the computer is going to think.

What's wrong with the Chrysler turbo's...they are still Garret T3's.  And those headers, they are made for putting a turbo on a small block?  Is that all they are called, TT headers.

I have a 89 S-10 that I swapped a 305 into.  I was thinking about putting a twin turbo setup on it.  What kind of car do you think I could find plenty of that would have a good turbo?  What would be a good turbo to use?
It is trottle body fuel injected so I was also thinking that I will probably have to change the MAP sensor.  Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks ahead of time.
