General / Question about the brake pump
October 08, 2010, 05:26:33 PM
Hey everyone

First off, I want to thank everyone for all their help with my questions regarding my TGP.

I do have another question about that brake pump runs every so often.  Is it normal for it to kick on if you are stepping on your brakes to a complete stop (pressing harder as you get to a complete stop)  I want to say it is like 'riding your brakes' but it's not that.  Reason I ask is that I have noticed that if I am approaching a stop and pressed the pedal 1x however foot is on the brake for a bit - I hear it kick on.  Again, there arent any ABS, Brake lights going on.  I just want to make sure I am ok :)

Again, thanks to everyone!

What a beautiful car.  Best of luck with it.  Mine looks very similar and has similar mileage - I have just under 65K on it.

Well, November will be here soon enough :)  I can imagine though how anxious you must be to have it as your own and do what you want with it,

Congrats to you as well.  I just got mine today - and I know it needs some maintenance items, but overall the paint is in great shape, interior is also in great shape.  JUst some little quirky things that I am probably making a big deal out of...

Thanks guys - makes me feel better.  I had a 92 GTP that had ABS years ago and I never remember that - unless they are different in both cars.  So, the noise you hear is seems as if it is coming from the dashboard?

General / New TGP owner - need some help
October 05, 2010, 05:23:45 PM
Hey everyone

I finally got my TGP today after waiting close to 3 months for it.  They brought it out on a car carrier from the Mid West.  The weather here in NJ isnt that great today, so I will post pictures soon.

My question is as follows - prior to buying the car, they had the ABS worked on - rebuilt actually - about 950.00 for the work.  Anyway, when I got into the car and driving it for a bit - there was some sort of motor that went on when I stepped on the brakes (maybe a few seconds after stepping on the brakes)  Once I let up on the brakes, it shut off.  Would anyone know what that is?

Other than that - I think it needs some general maintenance items - a lot of noise from the rear - possibly struts or shocks.

I'm really not too mechanically inclined, so any advice would be most helpful.

Thanks

Thank you for this info!  I'll call them Monday with this information as well.  Hopefully this will fix the problem and then I can finalize this deal.  Will keep you posted...
