I've heard of others having luck with pulling the pressure switch and throughly cleaning it, while working the switch back and forth.  Can't say I've tried it personally, but it's worth a shot.

Suspension/Wheels/Tires/Brakes / Pressure switch failure?
Last post by Prospeeder - September 24, 2017, 08:33:02 PM
Well I found an accumulator on eBay that should interchange, replaced it to finally try and fix the weak assist and pump running every pedal press. Now cars been sitting a few years. Got it installed. Pump will run pretty short time from total depressurization, 20 seconds maybe instead of over 60. Like the pressure switch is telling it to stop too early. It will run the pump every pedal press or sometimes 2 presses. if I hold the pedal, the pump will erratcly come on and off, and then abs light comes on solid. Sound like the switch?

Will Ones from a 85-87 turbo regal looks exactly the same, just different numbers. Not sure if threads or open close pressures are similar...or does maybe somebody have a good switch?

Accumulator I got https://www.ebay.com/i/311491977981

I might be needing a manual as well for the 1990 TGP project. We will just have to finish installing the new wheels and Mickey Thompson tires on the current truck project before we will take a look at her.

Not sure why it's such a common problem on the 3.1s, but glad you got it sorted out.

Use compressed air in the breather hole to blow the sensor out.

It is a plastic housed coil with a pickup winding. So a screw won't go into it. You don't have to worry about it falling in, but it will hit the middle of the crank.

I've done the compressed air trick quite a few times and it works well with no side effects (blown out seals etc)

Chris

Chris A, thanks a million for the compressed air idea!  ;)

I had this problem with the crank sensor not coming out.  I also thought I was screwed but thanks to the ideas on this forum I was able to get it replaced without dropping the pan.  Just the air wasn't enough for me though.

My sensor had broken off so that just the metal end was left and two wires connected to the end were sticking out the hole.  I tried the air and pulling on the wires but it wouldn't come.  Then I wrapped some sandpaper around a socket and worked on clearing out whatever oxidation was preventing the end from coming out.  After the sandpaper,  I put a rag around a socket to try to pull any grit out of the hole.  Then I tried the air and pulling again.  It came a little further, but I had to do the sandpaper trick once more before it popped out.
