For Sale / Want to Buy / Part out 89 tgp
Last post by tgpred89 - April 25, 2016, 08:16:50 PM
I really hate to do this to such a rare low miles car but I'm parting out my 89 tgp.  Everything on the car is in tact and all seems to function as it should minus all of the turbo parts.  Turbo parts will be removed for another project.  This car only has 82500 miles on it.  The front seats are badly sun damaged but the rears are like new.  The clear coat is pealing everywhere but there are no dents in the car.  It does run and drive as of right now but the radiator leaks so it gets hot quick.  I am willing to sell the car whole for the right price and would prefer to.  Like I said it's a shame to rip it apart but these cars had so many problems and are impossible to get parts for.  Let me know what you need and give a shipping zip and I will give you a price.  The car is located in se Pennsylvania.  I do have a video of the car running and driving if anyone wants to see it. I'm having a hard time uploading pictures but can send them to anyone who wants to take a look.

Thanks

How do I? / 3400 heads what exhaust manifo...
Last post by tgpred89 - April 17, 2016, 08:46:46 PM
I am in the process of building a 3400 motor for my olds alero.  I'm not trying to build anything crazy, just a quick everyday driver.  I have a 89 tgp that needs more work than I'm willing to put into it.  I know the t25 is a little small for the 3400 but I already have all of the parts and can do it for practically no money.  That being said I know about all the differences between the 2 motors.  I know as far as exhaust manifolds I don't have a whole lot of options.  I've heard that porting the 3.1 manifolds to D shape to fit there's not much metal left for sealing.  My plan was to use a log style 3100 rear manifold and cutting the 2 bolt flanges off the TGP crossover and putting the 3 bolt flanges on it.  If I do that will the crossover match up or is my only option porting or custom headers?  Thanks

For Sale / Want to Buy / Vacuum clip
Last post by maxlap21 - April 14, 2016, 11:35:16 PM
Since I have sold my TGP, I have no use for this spare vacuum clip which I think are hard to find. Comes with some tubing which has been partly melted. I'm asking $40 + shipping from Alberta, Canada.

Suspension/Wheels/Tires/Brakes / Re: PMIII TROUBLESHOOTING MANU...

I get alot of excess run time and the lights vary. Sometimes i'll get a flashing antilock, sometimes it's solid and sometimes it's simply off. This sudden "delay" was spontaneous with its initial appearance, meaning I had zero issues with the unit (other than the pump running alot) and then wham. Everyday, every time. Gotta give yourself like 5 extra car lengths. But the other day I slid in some driveway gravel, and lo and behold the pedal chattered and the unit worked perfectly and stopped me right there.

So it's intermittent. I'm sure I need a brake fluid flush but still. It won't boost the brakes until way to late. Anyone but me would end up in a ditch.

I would not think the lack of boost until the pedal is so far down would be accumulator related. I've had a bad one before and besides longer run time and more frequent running the system acted like normal. Now I do not know how discharged the old accumulator was because I did not have a pm3 brake pressure gauge to test it back then.

Which of the warning lights are lit on your car and do you have a scan tool to pull the codes related to them?

Keep the stock shifter... its easy to power shift with the automatic ,  if you are flat out and accidently bump from 1st to 3rd... you'll still be shifting into second gear and will have plently of time to correct and lock 2nd back down .... so theres not much of a point.
