What kind of radio came in a TGP.  Does anyone have a pic or part number?  I dont care if it has a CD or not just want to get the wheel controls working.  The POS I got just has to go.

Maybe you have one sitting in the garage?

I might.

Originally it was a multifunction deck.

You can see pictures of it at www.turbogpgarage.com

Under Galleries, Resto Gallery

I don't have a picture of a CD player though. It was a knob style (IIRC) and the entire radio stuck out of the dash some.

That's the pic I got from Kenny (TGPilot). Those radios are VERY hard to find. And when you do find them, they are often quite expensive...unless they're beat. The one I have is beat...unfortunately. I also have a tape deck that is even worse

Since we're on this topic, how the hello do I unlock the tape deck when it says loc? the guy before me had an aftermarket cd player put in, and I installed my own right after I got the car. I'm taking the cd player out to put in Tiffany's Freightliner, and went to reinstall the stock radio for now, and loc is all I can get it to do.

Did you check to see if the actual reciever is under the dash panel?  Its located inside of the glove compartment behind the plastic.  The dude before you might have taken it out to make wiring the new deck easier.  The piece on the console is just the "wired remote" for the component under the dash.

It doesn't run anymore.

I'll have to check that. The deck was installed with the wire harness adapters, and it was done by Best Buy(I will repeat, wasnt my car when done) so I doubt they would've gone that far.

Yeah, there's a few plastic screws that you will find.  Remove the grey inner piece and you should see it.  About the size of a shoe box, but not quite as deep.  When I installed my aftermarket deck I removed it so I could stretch the wires farther.  Still had to extend them though, the harnesses are only like 6 inches long, I needed like 2 feet.

Only for an '89, 90's are self contained.

It's all one piece. I thought it was, but I wanted to check to make sure. The car is a 90. So, back to the original question... How do I un-loc it?

I believe the factory stereo's have anti-theft built in. If it says loc, i believe you need a 3 digit code to unlock it. I'll dig my book out on the stereo's we have and see what it says about the loc and then post back again later tonight.

According to an insert in my Delco Electronics Music System Manual:
Delco-Loc II is a security feature for the compact disc player.  It can be used or ignored.  If ignored, the system plays normally.  If it is used, your player won't be usable if it's ever stolen, because it won't turn on.

The instructions below tell you how to enter a secret code into the system.  If your car loses battery power for any reason, you must enter the secret code again before the system will turn on.

Step 1: Write down any six-diget number and keep it in a safe place
Step 2: Trun the ignition to the "accessory" or "run" position
Step 3: Press PWR to turn the radio off.
Step 4: Press the PREV and FF buttons together.  Hold them until "???" shows on the display.

You are now ready to enter your secret code.  Don't wait more than 13 seconds between steps.

Step 5: Press SET and "000" will appear on the display.
Step 6: Press SEEK and hold it utnil the first digit of you code appears. Release SEEK.
Step 7: Press TUNE and hold it until the second and thrid digits appear.  Release the button.
Step 8: Press AM-FM and "000" will appear.  Now you are ready to enter the last three digits of your code.
Step 9: Press SEEK. Hold it until the fourth digit of your code appears. Release.
Step 10: Press TUNE. Hold it until the fifth and sixth digits of your code appear. Release.
Step 11: Press AM-FM. "REP" will appear for five seconds, and then "000" will appear.
Step 12: Repeat steps 6 through 11. "SEC" will be on the display.  This means your radio is secured.

To Unlock the System after A Power Loss
When battery power is reapplied to a secured radio, the radio won't turn on and "LOC" will appear on the display.

Enter your secret code as follows, pausing no more than 13 seconds between steps:

Step 1:  Turn the ignition on.
Step 2:  Pres SET.  "000" will appear ont he display.
Step 3:  Press SEEK and hold until the first digit of your code appears. Release SEEK.
Step 4:  Press TUNE and hold it utnil the second and thrid digits appear.  Release.
Step 5:  Press AM-FM. "000" will appear on the display.
Step 6:  Press SEEK. Hold it until the fourth digit of your secret code appears. Release.
Step 7:  Press TUNE and hold it until the fifth and sixth digits of code appear. Release.
Step 8:  Press AM-FM. "SEC" will appear and the radio can be turned on.  Your radio will now stay secured.

Note: If you lose or forget your secret code, see your dealer for assistance.

The Burning Rom,

Thanks for the picture, I think that will help.  I might find one in the junk yard here if they are the same as older model GP's.
