I need to do some exhaust work and I want to get rid of the mufflers and add straight pipes out the back.  Right after the cat I would add a glasspack.  It would be where the resonator on newer GTP's are.

Any ideas on this setup?  Should I get a race bullet muffler instead of a glasspack?  Glasspacks are about 24 inches and $15 and a bullet muffler would be about 15 inches and $35.  Both are straight flow through.  I'm not to worried about sound since its a turbo and back pressure isnt an issue.

I would just go w/ the glasspack, it will sound pretty good most likely...same basic setup as on my dads TGP...the bullet mufflers are basically glorified glasspacks

Mine had straight pipe all the way back and glasspacks in place of the mufflers. Sounded pretty good.

Hey1bum

what brand glass packs did you use.... did you just get the glasspacked tips or you talkin Cherry Bombs or Thrush type glasspacked mufflers?

They were the thrush type. I'm not sure of the brand, whatever the muffler shop had.

Hey1bum

and they sounded good??  Was it that raspy sound they usually give off, or a deep rumble?

If you want deep rumble...you're gonna need to find an engine with 2 more cylinders

It's pretty deep. No raspiness. Go over to the w-body forum and ask gp90se or patgizz how it sounds.

Hey1bum

cool, just wanted to look at an alternative to standard flowmasters

Glasspacks are soooo much cheaper also. I had the old mufflers cut off, the glasspacks welded on and the original tips put back on the glasspacks. Including the cost of parts it cost me $63.

Hey1bum

that's what i like to hear.. cheap is good.

I think i paid like 200 for my muffler, tip, and installation for one damn pipe!!!!!

I put Dynomax Ultraflo mufflers on my GTP and just love the sound.  I have actually had someone ask if there was a V-8 under the hood.

I will go with the one glasspack on the TGP.
