Well, I'm sure everyone here knows that the turbo being directly under the upper intake pipe, it heats it up, a lot. Being that, it's kind of defeating the purpose of having an intercooler if the air just gets heated up again. Well I saw the DEI intake tube cover kit in the Summit catalog. It used to be $80, but it's now down to $50. So I took a trip to Summit and bought.

Got it home, wrapped it around the intake pipe and cut it to length. Had to struggle just a bit for the pipe to fit back in place, it's fine now.

Went for ride for about an hour or so with the cover on. Felt under neath the cover and the pipe was nice and cold. I think it was worth the purchase. DEI also makes a nice turbo blanket replacement for the stock turbo blanket. It's better to spend the $80 for the DEI blanket then paying $300 for a GM one which is made out of the same material.

Are you talking about a direct fit blanket or a kit to wrap the turbo with?  Do you have a summit pn#?

It doesn't run anymore.

It's a kit that can but cut to fit any size turbo.

I have both the turbo kit and intake kit.  8)

The P/O of my new TGP has the JeffM x-over wrapped, and the turbo wrapped.  After driving 15 or so minutes (enough time to thoroughly heat the engine bay) I can put my palm on my upper plenum w/ no discomfort.  But I'm still trying to decide if it's good for the x-over.  Probably gonna remove it.

Good thoughts, more thoughts, and some reading, and trying to read between the lines, DEI states their product does not hurt the pipes, but also states theirs cuts heat by 40%, and that those ?others? who stated 70% were optimistic, I believe more so the "others" were wrapping the pipe too much not allowing a level of heat to escape, even DEI directions state to not overlap too much, I believe to limit the heat retention that would otherwise risk the life of the pipe.  Many aftermarket exhaust pipe systems state to not wrap, is this because there is no way for them to control how much you wrap the pipe, or that there is still some risk to letting the pipe metal get too hot, only tests will tell, and knowing the limits of the pipe material, mild steel will die soon, the stainless steels will last longer, but only tests will show just how well, and then who is to say someone is not running a real rich fueling/HOT exhaust temp?  Many variables to cover, I just go with a thick ceramic coating such as those from High Performance Coatings (and others, but the last 2 large orders I got from Jet Hot had poor quality control!).
