Anyone know if the Pikes peak or Pace car had different chips in them than stock? I would guess they probably did, just wondering if anyone knew for sure.

The Pikes Peak car most certainly had a different chip. Not just because it is a race/prototype car, but because it raced from 7000' above sea-level all the way up to 12,000' above sea-level. There are some serious elevation changes in less than 12 miles of road. You can have the Pikes Peak car chip (if it is still the same race chip) if you buy the car for $12,500!!  8)

for real!!!?!   i'm gonna run out and pick me one of them up!!!! sweet

Also, wasn't the pikes peak racer just a regular GP SE so it probably started w/ its own chip... who knows how similar it would be (asside from elevation issues) to the current TGP chip.... how bout the pace car anyone have info on that?

It would be nice to have this car personally owned, though where it is at it's more there for everyone to see:

Chip was different, car was way different but same size turbo, custom intercooler/about the same size, stock appearance engine and tranny but inside them??  Roll cage, fuel cel, cat so it's "Street Legal" so they say, lots of fun stuff but is a gold colored regular 1988 GP with a TGP turbo setup :( .

Pace Car was different, but the 5 made (maybe more hiding in some exec's garage or museum?) are harder to find, I know one owner with one who has been here for some work, over 180k miles on it, guess he loves to drive it more than store it for the history, used in the movie Days of Thunder with Tom Cruise.  Had to fix a couple small things in his McLaren chip, much happier now and called me 4 times on his way back home on how much faster his chip'd TGP was, unfair advantage for me to have been tuning these for years instead of the short time McLaren's guys had to do theirs, sure they could of done more to it!!  That chip was for sure different than any stock,  tuned by the better tuner guy at McLaren back in those days, he has left since, but I know his name and talked with him, too smart for most people  :)

You are not going to get access to these chips, but they are only good for learning some McLaren tweaks, not as much info for most all out tuners.
