Had the WORST problems with my car and running performance... it would leave me stranded in the worst places... so I grounded it.  I locked it up in the garage, and when I was ready to look at it again I started to tear down the engine.  Turns out I take out my lower intake and I have a broken pushrod!  I was like WTF-- would my engine really have ran like that... luckily for me it was snapped open and bent but not broken into two.  That would have caused some major valvetrain damage.  Anyway, just wondering if anyone has any ideas how this could have happened?  or has it happened to anyone?  weird..

Oil starvation, something getting between the valve and psiton(such as a chunk of spark plug), or jumped timing. That would be where I'd start. Chances are if the engine isnt already needing a rebuild, it wont be long before it does.

nope, broken pushrod fixed... thanks... btw the engine didn't have any problems like oil starvation or clogs when i took it apart-- just looked like any engine that we took apart-- id like to advise people that just because a freak accident occured-- a freak solution like rebuilding a complete engine might not be necessary.
