Alright, just thought I would share this, as I think it's valuable information to the Boosted folks.

I have been tuning my cavalier all summer long, and it never reved well, or idled correctly, I figured it was my tuning techniques, and figured I was doing something worng...and never really llooked further into the problem.

I ran a 13.786 @ 103.47 this past weekend, and was somewhat discouraged, as I knew the car had more in it...

Well, upon arriving home, I was kind of bummed, so i was reading some old posts about plugged catalytic converters, and said to myself "Self, I am going to look see if my cat is plugged"

So without further ado, I  get into the shop and cut away...  Found my cat was plugged beyond belief, I mean, you couldn't even see light thru it with the exception of 6 holes the size of needles.  So I went with a test pipe for now.

Anyways, I hop onto the road, and find tons more power that I thought I never had.  Soo much so that my cltuch just killed itself in 4th gear.

One thing I found odd was my boost, now since I have a centifugal blower, the higher the engine revs the higher the boost goes, well, before, I would shift at 52-5300 RPM, (10 PSI) cause after that the car took a dump.

Well, get this, now, at high rpm, the car doesn't cut out, and just contiunues to pull, I was registering 14 PSI on the gauge once or twice, now that the car can rev out.

So, lesson learned, if you car has no power, take a peek at your cat.

103mph traps aren't that bad considering you had a plugged cat. :shock:  When are you planning on running the car again? :wink:

Even the difference of a test pipe to a high flow cat is very noticable...at least it was on my Talon. :wink:  8)

Love the car mars .. One question .. On your v6z24.com page (of witch I am a member mnz24 ) you have two sets of injecors listed , one set from a ford ??? Other wise as I said love the car .. I have a ruby 91 z 5speed..

That should be normal, since the faster the engine spins, the faster the SC is going to spin right, so obviously the higher the RPMs the more RPMs the SC is going to spin creating more boost.
Norm Crowe's now stolen '88 Beretta GT was the same way, he didn't make full boost until ~5200 with the same style of SC

Whats this lovely world of ours comeing too ... there has been alot of theft of some really nice cars lately.. all over the place.. I am a member of probly 13 or so diff web fourms and I'v seen about 20 cars stolen in the last couple of months. Makes me feel a little better that im in a smalllllll ass town and I can fit all my cars in my shop .. But still pisses me off to see tha cars that ppl pour ther hart and sole into taken ..

Ok enugh venting from me.. On a side note I found an 89 grand am turbo in the junk yard today .. it was sitting in the wa back of the repairables secetion .. they brought it in cause it lost the exhaust on the hiway and the quote to have it put back on was too high.. owell looks like i'll have a new project..

I would say thats a nice find!  I like the looks of the old "boxy" Grand Am's they look like they mean business.   :P

It should be fun.. I have to go to the yard tomarrow and find out all the details .. should be a fun little car to suprise ppl with .. whoo knows maybe after I finish my Billion other projects I'll do something with it..
