info on my oil pump FYI

10051104  High Volume Oil Pump
This heavy-duty cast iron oil pump has longer gears than a production V6/60? oil pump. It has 25% more capacity than a standard pump, and is highly recommended for all off-highway V6/60? Chevrolets.
(color coded with a blue stripe) will produce approximately 70 psi oil pressure.

hmmmmm is 70 PSI lots?

Not really, I'm sure it will calm down after its warmed up.  Dunno about the V6s, but the SBCs have always been known for low oil pressures so if it has an affect I dunno.  However, over on the 60*V6 forums one guy thinks his high volume oil pump caused his engine failure, a couple main bearings were scored and some other stuff.

Oh yeah, and our '73 Trans-Am was pushing off the charts over 80psi before it warmed up, oh and this was with a bad thrust on the crank pushin it forward dumping oil out the rear-main seal.

How old is the turbo?  Maybe the seals are just getting worn/weak is why it is burning the oil?

Sort of an update:

I have sourced a local shop that can make me an new Stainless steel -3 AN = 3/16 line for my Turbo Oil Feed for the T25.

now for those who know the 3.1 Turbo (TGP) engine has a small SS flexable line about a foot long that then connects to a hard steel line that then goes to the turbo.

should i just replace the short  SS flexline with the custom -3 AN and keep the hard line to the turbo?

or should i run a longer -3 AN flex SS line the whole way to the turbo?

any help is welcome

From what I remember, we used the SS lines all the way to the turbo.  I know the stainless line is right on the turbo, and I'm pretty sure its connected right to the pickup.  As we have lots of custom welding and stuff like that on it, you will find its a lot nicer and much less chances of problems that way.  I have had 0 oiling problems since the engine was put it.

if you can, PM Mr. Hat on clubgp, he has a turbo 3800 in his 2001(?) GP.  He had the same problem i believe with too much oil presure and smoking like crazy.  I can't remember how he fixed it though....He should be able to help you.

well i just ordered this after some rave reviews on the turbo Honda forums, Turbo Dodge forums and DSM forums.

http://www.stealthmodeperformance.com/oil-res.shtml

going to run a new -3 AN SS line from the stock location beside the oil filter all the way to the turbo inlet.

replace the stock lines and using a "T" fitting use the above linked product in conjunction with a manual oil pressure gauge.

im 90% sure that will be the solution to this issue.

also my Dad has one a bit more heavy duty on his airplane with a russian 9 cyl S/C radial engine

UPDATE:

ok here is what im going to try first (under $20)

assembleed this to simply fit inline with the current stock lines so if it works no need to remove any of the stock equiptment.

going to try it tomorow

Invasion1

Installed today and it is just fits inline without issue between the SS flex line and the hard steel line.....any longer and there would have been some trouble fitting.

im going to try it tomorow after my Battery charges (had the doors open today working on another gadget that drained the battery)

Looking Good

With the Valve i can adjust the oil pressure and flow to the turbo to what ever i wish  :D

problem seems to be solved and also my turbo seals don't seem to leak with the oil flow cut back using the valve.

just have to find a happy medium somewhere in between to low and to high.

anyway im pleased with the turnout so far
