The purple wire that starts fires on sy/tys. it never has problems on TGPs  ;), yea right :icon_twisted: never too many problems on the tgp really, but my starter wires grounded on the starter when they got hot. and the typhoon starter looks like a small geared one on a pic I saw. I was on the sy/ty forum just a minute ago :icon_eek: I would be pissed if my starter caught on fire! luckily my battery just croaked.

I have been using a lead off the purple wire for the heated O2 sensor. I used heat shrink style end connectors and tap out of the purple wire in the harness going to the starter. problem is now that 3-4 feet of 14 gauge wire are now added to the already undersized purple wire. oh yea dont forget the new starter is a high torque so that either adds or takes away stress to that wire that I havent determined yet.

and I was wondering how could this purple wire be upgraded to a 10 gauge wire on our car? where all does it run to? just the starter or does it go to other stuff on the car too? Im just too lazy right now to go track it all down. Please if you know and can add anything that could warn me or help on this, :icon_mrgreen: I dont want to burn my car down to the ground.

its been well over a year since I put in the high torque starter, and like 8 months since the heated O2 got put on the purple wire circuit. absolutely no issues have surfaced.  never upgraded the wire diameter either.

So I am confused...you are saying that the purple wire on the TGP/TSTE is an undersized wire and will catch fire or you have added an additional constant load of a heated 02 sensor to a problem wire (so you state) and you have not had a problem?

I guess my confusion is that you are adding a power load to a wire that you feel is a problem wire. What logic in your mind would you think that is a good idea?

Alrighty then....

I looked into the idea after someone reccomended using the fuel sender wire. which is a circuit I already had issues with and did not want to use. so I looked around to see if the purple wire was ok, and found that people were upgrading that wiring on their sy/tys because a few of them were catching fire. my guess is it was shorting out somehow and they didnt know it.

I originally wanted to know if the actual wiring loop was longer in length.  and fusible link ratings but mine are all new now.
