Well, I just got the TGP back from the shop that installed/made the x-over. And aparently some time thru the last 3 hail storms the thing got beat to shit while it was at the shop. I have it insured for the 9600 that NADA puts it at luckily, now lets see if they are going to total it, or, rebuild it...

I have had it for 4 days, but didnt bother to wash it till sunday, and thats when i noticed the damage. And it is extensive, There are ripples in the body on the roof, the black stips going down the door look like someone took a hammer to them. The rear and front top quaters look the same. I cant see any damage on the hood, but it doesnt have its clear coat, so I cant tell much on it. I am bummed after spending all the time and money I have in this car...

Just got off the phone with the insurance company and all they could do is tell me my deductable is 100 bucks and someone will be calling me later.. :icon_cry: :icon_cry: :icon_cry: :icon_cry:

Now this really sucks...

Insurance company states that because the car is classified as a "collectors car", that the definitions for apraisel change considerably. So my "average" TGP, by there standards, is now considered "low". So that drops the NADA pricing on it from 6000 to 3000. And because the damage is rated at 2960 in hail damage, they have to total it out. But wait, it gets worse..

If I take their damage assesment on it, and because my state just passed a law back in 2005 about this, it brands my title for the car as salvage. Well that just screws the car forever because carfax, and other title reporting services, dont diferentiate inbetween Hail damage, and physical wrecked car style damage.

So my insurance company has asked me to take it to a couple diferent apraisers to see if I can get a 'Pre-hail' apraisel. Yea this should go over really well. All I need to do is get the value up to 4000 and they will repair it. 1000 freaking dollars. I just put 1500 into at the shop when it was getting the hail damage (new struts, tires, brakes, x-over), doesnt that count for anything? Nope.. MOTHER F*&^%R BBQ!!!!!!!NEON TITS!!!

The "salvage" title should have no concern to you if you don't ever plan on selling the thing ;)

For $3000 why not get another TGP with no damage and swap anything over?  Or is there something special about the mileage you must have?

Forget insurance. Buy a new hood, decklid and get a body shop to smooth out the roof. By going through insurance you're just gonna pay for it 3 times over in the long run. IMO

Not true in this case. They cannot assess you for "an act of god". You have no control over it, and neither do they. They totalled out the 6000 some 3 years ago, and my rates never went up, in fact they have gone down every year since then.

I think I am going to take the check, and sell it to someone here or over on the w-body board. If I sell it to them befor I get the check from the insurance company, they can title it in there state, and it will never get the salvage branding on the title. I figure 1000 bucks is a good price. Since it does have the TG 160 Chip, Brand New Rebuilt Radiator, custom done x-over (that was done really well, best welding job I have ever seen), they grey leather that is in excelent condition for 3 seats, and average for the forth (drivers seat of course), New A/C Condensor. Hell, I will even deleiver it anywhere from St Louis, to Denver, or 300 miles north/east/south of St Louis. Any Takers? All I will charge for DEL is the price of gas to get me to you, and back.

Pioneer Head unit will not be in car. But a tape deck will, or for a slight aditional price I will include a working stock cd player..

My hood is actually in good shape, They had the hood under a tree when the hail storm hit. Very small SMALL dimples. But the claims adjuster couldnt even see them. Just needs paint.. I think I will stick with 1000. But you are more then welcome to shoot me a price.. Althou with all the things I had done and recently replaced. I doubt I will budge much if at all. Tires only have 1200 miles on them, same with the struts. Rad only has 300 miles on it, X-over has 100 miles on it, rear brakes have 300 miles, Chip is unknown. We do know its a Jeff M chip (bought from skalor), and he had it in his befor.

EDIT: the following..

Mods, I will write up a FOR SALE ad and place it in the right section over the weekend :) I am currently out of town..

Pics are located here.. These pics were befor hail damage, but my cam cant pic up the hail damage..They were taken late last year
