So I just got my TGP back from the shop (It had a rebuild done), and it came back with a few problems that I don't think were there before. If I could get some help in dealing with these issues, it'd be appreciated. They are as follows;

1) My brake pedal. When I put a slight amount of pressure on it, it will go down only so far before it drops down suddenly, and allows me to actually brake (which can't be done without some degree of force). When I release the brake pedal, it will stop braking, but will not return to its original position, which keeps my brake lights on. This is troublesome in the fact that after every time I brake, i have to use my other foot to return it to normal position, and I've run down my battery a couple times when parking because I forget ><.

2) When I start the car, it will usually start up right away without much hesitation, but then when it comes down to what I assume is idling rpm, the engine will die. It only does this when the engine is cold; when the engine temp actually registers on my temp gauge, it will start without any problems and idle fine.

3) My temperature gauge itself. My engine temperature never remains constant. It will always fluctuate between the line before 220 and the line after, and when i turn off the car the gauge shoots past the overheat mark. I don't know if they all do this and it just happens when the car shuts off, but if the engine actually gets that hot that quick I'm really worried about it.

4) First gear/shifting in general. When accelerating from a stop, the car not only hesitates, but I have to give it a good bit of gas to even get it going anywhere. Once it gets going a little bit though, it seems to work great. As for the gear shifting, it shifts pretty hard, especially downshifting: When coming to a stop at a light, I can feel the car jerk when (i'm assuming) it's downshifting.

And a quick question to leave off. I changed the battery about a week ago, and I had to remove a rubber-like hose that was sitting very close to where the battery goes, and next to the turbo. The hose bridged two metal tubes; one coming from the engine with 4 small pcv hoses coming out next to it, and the other tube leading down to the turbo, I think. I noticed a little bit of oil in there, and I was skeptical as to whether it was supposed to be there or not, cuz that's a pretty thick hose.

Any kind of help you guys can offer would be very much appreciated. Emailing me would be great as well if it's ok;  zeppelin807@hotmail.com

I would throw on a new lower hydraulic motor mount on it for the downshifting problem.

sounds like the brake light switch is toast. or out of adjustment. If the brakelights killed the batt, it most likely melted the switch.

what do you mean it has a rebuild done to it?

did something bad happen?

The brake light itself works great, its something about my brake pedal that's doing it. I think it may be that I don't have enough brake fluid pressure... but the switch needing adjustment could be it too.

I mean the engine's had a rebuild to it...do you remember the member 'tcristea' GangstGP? You helped him out with his problem quite some time ago...

Is your vacuum modulator check valve installed correctly? That would cause harsh shifting.

I do not know where that is located, what it looks like, how to check it, OR if it is installed properly. I don't have alot of technical vocabulary, so try to be gentle with words  :icon_lol:. If you could direct me with a diagram or a picture and how to check it, I would greatly appreciate it.

The vacuum modulator is a cylidrical shaped steel canister about 2" in diameter.

It's located on the front of the transmission and is directly below the turbo. It has a steel vacuum line going to it from near the throttle body on the plenum.

There should be a check valve with 3 ports on it between the steel vacuum line and the vacuum modulator.

Alright, how will I check to make sure it's working well and installed right?
