When I was a kid, back in the late 50's, Walt Knoch was one of my heroes.  He owned a Chrysler-powered '39 Fiat that I wouldn't have driven on a bet.  I watched in awe as he took out the Green Monster for Top Eliminator one Sunday at Detroit Dragway. He ran 9.75 and 144 mph, which I thought was absolutely great.  I doubt that they were running nitro in 1960. Below you'll see a run by a later car.  I was at the drags with friends and racing my mom's '54 Olds 88, then a 60 Chevy, and dad's '59 and '60 Cadillacs.  ; )  "Unhook the power steering." - Tom.  LOL

I found a website that is great for some 1/4-mile trivia, nostalgia, or whatever you can make of it.

The website is draglist.com

Here's an excerpt, in the order I chose.  To see the entire list, I guess you'd have to glance at the site and pick a category.  I went for the Fuel Altereds.

I'll stick with my TGP, but I may have to go out and see some of this modern drag racing action.  : )

Oops, I see the site is more complicated than I thought.  I found my list through Google search. Here's the link to that specific page:

http://www.draglist.com/lists/faq32.txt

draglist.com website has a lot to offer but is more complicated than I'd expected after the seeing the page that Google Had given me a link to.

Sorry about that.  : )
