1998 Buick Regal GS

$4500 FIRM.  i was previously asking $4900/obo but $4500 is simply as low as i can go.

- the car is Bordeaux Red Pearl over Light Windsor Gray Metallic with Medium Gray leather interior.

- as of right now it ha 108,xxx miles & is VERY dependable.

- Supercharged Series II 3800 L67 runs GREAT, 100% stock with the exception of an engine cover from a GTP (way nicer looking than the boring gray original).  the engine does not leak anything nor does it burn any oil.  it stays VERY clean & full between oil changes.  i use Mobil-1 10w30.  the belts and radiator hoses appear to have been replaced shortly before i bought the car.  shortly after i bought the car Dan and i scanned it with his LS1M and it was getting almost ZERO KR and that was on a 103*F day.  some L67 cars have KR problems even stock - this one doesn't.  this engine is very healthy and ready for a new owner to add some mods :)

- 4T65E-HD transmission shifts PERFECTLY, fluid is clean and bright red, does not leak.

- almost new (bought them last August) BFGoodrich Traction TA all-season tires with ~5500 miles on them.  they still look new.  stock 225/60-16 size.

- nice & clean interior although there are two rips in the front seats - one on the passenger seat and one on the driver's seat.  they really aren't that noticeable (i'll get some pics).  carpet, headliner, door panels, dashpad are all nice and clean.  rear seats & trunk are very clean as well.

- paint looks nice but it does have a few chips & scratches typical for a car of its age/miles.  the aftermarket spoiler needs to be repainted (whoever painted it did a bad job).  the tops of the front and rear bumper are faded probably due to the Arizona heat & sun but the rest of the car looks very nice including the the hood, roof, top of the trunklid and sides of the car.  there is no body damage except for one very small ding on the backside of the trunklid.  NO hail damage.  the car spent most of its life in Arizona (from the time it was new until fall of 2005 varified by a 100% clean Carfax report) so it is ABSOLUTELY RUST FREE.

- it's not "fully loaded", but it does have the "Prestige Package" which includes electrochromic inside rearview mirror, 6-way power passenger seat, trunk convenience net, dual-zone automatic digital climate control, steering wheel radio controls, CD & cassette stereo (Concert Sound II).  these are all options added to the standard GS package.  it doesn't have Monsoon Sound, power moonroof, heated seats, or high polish wheels.  total vehicle price according to the original window sticker i have was $25,155 and was sold new at Childress Buick in Phoenix, Arizona.

problems

- rear passenger window needs a new cable and/or regulator.  it will slide down while driving so i need to keep it taped up.  the motor isn't bad because i can hear it working.  i'm not sure how much this part costs at the GM dealer but i'd imagine you could get one cheap through Ed Morad and it should be an easy fix.

- both the driver's side & passenger side temperature actuators need to be replaced.  the plastic gears inside are cracked (common problem with these cars).  these are located under the dash and actuate the doors that open/close the heat/vents/AC for the climate control.  again, i'm not sure how much they cost at the GM dealer but Ed Morad should have them available cheap.  they are very easy to replace.  i took them out so i could manually turn the doors open to let heat in for winter.  during the summer i just reach up and close the doors manually by hand.  it's really not that big of a problem but obviously this does mean the automatic climate control is inoperative for the time being.

- AC does not work.  i'm pretty sure it needs a new orifice tube (they are cheap).  i'm not sure how easy/hard it is to replace.  the AC compressor is fine.  i'm pretty sure it still has refridgerant because when Dan and i tried to recharged the AC system last summer the pressure was too high (which points to a clogged orifice tube being the problem).

- passenger side rearview mirror has a small chunk broken off of it (i'll try to get a pic posted tomarrow).

- other than that i really can't think of any problems.  brakes are good, suspension feels good etc.  IMO it has an easy 200,000+ miles of life left in it so long as it's taken care of of course.  the previous owner obviously took good care of the car as have i.

sooo anyways....price.  using my zip code and a mileage of 108,000:

NADA average retail lists the car at $5,650 - this is the value most banks typically look at when determining the value of a vehicle (at least my bank does).  KBB Private Party value is $5,445.  so i basically want $1000 less than what it's worth.

any questions don't hesitate to ask

thanks,
Joshua Mitchell
