The rear isn't the problem. Plenty of room if you pay attention to the firewall. The fronts are the issue with the passenger side dogbone mount bracket.

I know this may not help, But check out the first few pics

im not really worried about the dogdone mount in all reality, ill most likely just chop it up and make er work.. hell the 3.4 DOHC only has one

The DOHC only has one dogbone, but it has two lower engine mounts. ;)

i realize this but i just plan on modifying the dog done mount to allow room for the headers, it will still be there just not quite as strong.

so anyone got a pic of the rear available room for me or maybe a measurement??

something like this?

if you are going to make the passenger side dogbone weaker i would strongly suggest fabricating a bobble strut type of mount for the Getrag.  mount it between the backside of the transmission (diff area) and the subframe.  look under an '80s 5-speed FWD Chrysler and you'll see what i'm talking about.  the Turbo 3.1 with a 5-speed needs all of the support it can get (heck you know that probably more than anyone else :icon_razz: )

if you are going to make headers, i would just go all out and make a custom crossover with a T3 flange as well as a custom downpipe.  as you can see there is not much clearance between the rear exhaust manifold and the downpipe nor much clearance between the crossover pipe and downpipe for that matter.  i think it could all be fabbed up on an engine stand since there is plenty of clearance ("plenty" being a relative term of course) between the exhaust and the car itself (firewall, master cylinder, radiator fan etc).

if i was going to go through all of that trouble i would really just start out with a 3400.  but i can understand why you want to keep the GEN-II plenum for the sake of looking stock and it does look wayyyyyy better than the 3x00 plenum IMO (although a 3500 plenum helps alot in underhood asthetics not to mention it will outflow a 3400 plenum when ported according to Ben).  the 3100/3400 plenums are just....ugly.  ecspecially the small-port '94-'99 3100 plenum.  yuck.

I sure like that TB , But you can see that their's just no room to do anything wild & crazy. but Kuntzie  if your definately interested in do up a aftermarket you sure have my support whenever you need it man. :worshippy:

im more looking for a pic of the motor in the car (like between the motor and firewall.

and yes im going all out, if you havent seen the x-over is in the for sale section.

between the 3" exhaust and the header i KNOW there wont be anyroom left back there.

with the 5-speed there is a little more room for the custom downpipe but not that much.

yes i realizre the whole supporting the motor trans issues...

for the motor not moving-
poly trans mount
poly lower engine mount
poly dogbones

so that will help aswell.

back to the headers ect, the t3 flange will be moved up towards the front of the car (about 2.5" forward) to make room for the bigger snail.

ya the gen II top end has gotta stay. Turbo 3.1 FTW

that's just the stock TB with the top removed.  i took it all apart and let it sit in Berryman's Chem-Dip overnight then reassembled it with new gaskets.

i think you're going to have to have the engine back in the car and look everything over for clearance yourself before trying to make anything.  pics aren't really going to help.  or you could just look under the hood of a NA 3.1 W-body - it's really the same thing clearance wise.

where are you going to get the poly trans mount and lower motor mounts?

ya thats what i will do i guess- get to the jusnk yard and make a measurement.

the monts i got poly filled/ rubber completely removed at a local shop. cost me 60 bucks for both the trans mount and lower motor mount

have you looked at westcoastfiero.com?  they sell a turbo kit for the 2.8 in those. :icon_twisted:. the headers can be bought seperate.
