Where should i put my 4x6 first?

Im not rich, so im buying my speakers pair by pair. Ive got my 4x6 infinty's coming tomarrow, wich is nice. But im wondering if i should put them in the doors or the dash first, i want good sound, and im not sure wich will give me the most gain right off, i really want to make sure they are gonna fit in the dash first, so when i buy a second set im not gonna be screwed. Should i just start with putting them in the dash or just test them in the dash, to make sure they fit, then put them in the doors? cause im kinda going on a long drive this week and want the best till i get another set.

I don't think the better sound systems even had dash speakers stock. I don't think my TGP did.

TGP's have 2 rear 6x9's stock, 4x6's in the door panels, and 4 inchers in the dash...dash may be off, but I don't believe so.

All TGP's come with 6 speakers. 1989 had the "Performance Sound" switch mounted on the drivers side door speaker to turn the door speakers off and on; 1990 did not.

Pretty sure the dash is 4x6, but anyway, im gonna double check they fit i suppose, then put them in the doors.

I'm pretty sure they're 4"...I know they are completely round, not ovals. I just removed my old dash and installed the new one three days ago or so. I guarentee that. Doors is my suggestion, unless you wanna do custom work.

I did some checking, and have seen people post both 4x6's and 4"...possible mine we replaced, but highly doubtful. Mine are in fact 4". Please share results.

I remember putting 4x6" in the dash, 6x9 in the rears, and I do not remember what was in the doors.

Yeah. 4x6's in the dash. Replace these first as they are the most important.

Alright, dash speakers are easier to get to anyway, lol. They are defintly 4x6 speakers,  i took the pad off quicky today during autoshop

The doors are also 4x6.  I had my door panel off yesterday.

Ok put them in the doors, the Dash is too shallow. and the mout dept for these infinities are 1  and 15/16 inches. they would need a nother i dunno 1/4 -1/2 inch more depth, and i dunno if a spacer would work, as the dash pad may not full seat, and im not keen on hacking at the metal under the dash panel, lol, i may try and find some shallow speakers i dunno....

I ran into the same problem. Got a nice set of 4x6's but they are way too deep. I'm gonna try spacers when I get a chance. How do you like the new sound?

With just the door infinties and stock rears is sounds WAY better than having the stock door and dash speakers both working with that HORRIBLE amp thing powering them, they distort horribly with that shitty amp, i had to rewire the doors to the deck and leave the dash ones out, and it sounds alot better. i found these i may just put in, better than nothing.
