Painting a valence

I have another valence sitting here that I need to prep and paint.  It is in pretty good shape, except for the usual chip on the front tip of it, and it has a little bit of spiderwebbing in the paint.  It is white, so I have to paint it anyway. 
My question is: what should I do to prep and paint this thing up?  I have already washed it and cleaned it with paint stripper, so it is as clean as it can possibly get right now.  I also already have the correct color matched paint for it.  Any help is much appreciated!

So far, I'm looking to sand it with a 200 grit, then 400, then 600.  Should that be adequate?  Also, should I add some kind of a flex agent?  If so, when should I add it?  Should I prime it also?

Ok I did the valence today... sanded it up, cleaned it again, then sprayed 2 coats of adhesion promoter/flex agent on it.  Then I put 4 coats of paint on it.  It turned out really well, but it got windy outside during my last coat of paint and I got a small run in the paint.  What should I do to get rid of the run?  I have NOT put clear coat on it yet.  Other than the minor run, it looks AWESOME- I can't wait to put it on the car!

you're going to want to wait a while on that one.  let it sit a week or so and get some really fine grit paper, like 2-3000 and use  a spray bottle with water, possibly some other type or lubricant I don't know for sure.  Get a soft towel and then have at it.  At least consult one other opinion before doing that though.  ;)

I wet-sanded it good yesterday to get the runs and minor blemishes out.  Tomorrow I will put a few more coats of paint on and clear it good. :icon_cool:
