Ok, so this guy who lives in my town, total moron by all respects...doesn't take care of his cars or anything, and it's evident by the number of cracks in his hood from it flying up and smacking the roof of the car lol. Anyways, two years back he ran it into a ditch and damaged it bad. So he had it redone, and made it look like a 2002 Camaro SS, new front end, hood, etc. The engine remained the same LT1 however. And last night, I decided it was time for the first race on the new turbo.

I revved as I passed him, he followed, and we went on a narrow stretch of road outside of town. We agreed to a 3 honk-GO system. Honk-honk-honk-GAS! Well, he decided to lift off on the second honk. I followed and held my own. If we had left at the exact same time, I would have been on top of him by maybe half a car. Instead, since he played dirty, he won by about a car.

Now I'm not gonna run him inot the ground for cheating. I'm just impressed my TGP performed as she did. He came back up to me at the parking lot about 15 minutes later, and jumped out of his car. "What the hell's under there?!" he goes... "A little V6" I tel him lol. He asked me to pop the hood, so I did, and showed him. He didn't say a single thing, just nodded, walked backwards to his car, and waved goodbye.

I wanted a rematch but I couldn't find him the rest of the night. Oh well.

LT1 motors people think are puky and have nothing in them. If they are tuned right they have plenty of power. We had one in here the other week with an individual coil conversion and a bit better intake runner. It made plenty of power! ;)

What's done to your 89 TGP? Also, was the LT1 a stick car or auto? Even auto LT1's in good shape can outrun about 99% of the TGP's that still exist. ;) My friend's auto LT1 '95 Camaro was running low 14's bone stock(trap speeds were in the mid 90's from what I remember, it hooked up really nicely off-the-line on street tires).

I've ridden in Kyle's TGP- it rips!  Nice race, Kyle!  We should race our TGPs, now that I have my injectors in and it isn't running on 3 cylinders anymore   You will prolly kill me since I still have the stock chip in mine tho lol

Thank Kuntzie! Here's what I'm running with my car:

- Invasion1 Chip
- New Turbo ( we all know the upgrades)
- Ported, polished, and decked heads
- COMPLETE Tune up
- Pretty much everything that's listed in both the Grinders 18 Rolling Learning Thread and the What Have you Done to You TGP/TSTE Lately Thread (I just woke up so my mind is gone)

Hopefully, I can track this guy down and ask him what's up with his engine...whether he needs to do work on it, or if it's running right.

I'm with ya on that! Bone Stock Lt1 cars even with dead 273's run bottom 14's. With a power programmer they run 13.7's to 13.9's and Power programmers are junk. Although they don't trap Crazy MPH stock, anywhere from 98-101mph. LT1's are known to get moving but they lack top end. So if you went from a roll you might have had a chance.

Get to the track and hammer some numbers out! That's the only way to find out!

way back in the day I pulled next to a LT1 on a local busy road around here, we ran them up to 60-65 and I stayed right at his rear bumper the whole time, but on the next shift he would have pulled away, we shut em down its just too busy there.

I've never burnt a V8, but plenty of imports and riced out GM's.  Sounds like you put some work into that machine, make sure you aren't running it too hard, don't need a popped piston.

Oh trust me. After each race I've had, she's gotten a thorough check over. I remove the plugs and check them, check the idle, inspect for leaks, check the fluids. Every time she has checked out fine. I know the limits and I don't get close to them. :icon_wink: Better safe than sorry.
