okay, so basicly, my oil pressure gauge is all wacked up, it goes from full oil pressure to non, my fuel light turns on at random, and my speedomitor is off in wierd increments

at 35 its off by +5
at 55 its off by +10
at 70 its off by +15

is there any reason for this? or any way to fix it other than a new gauge cluster?

had my cluster repaired at an  ac delco repair shop (specmo in royal oak mi.). the low fuel light still comes on quite frequently but everything else still is fine. i work for gm here in mi. and when these cars were new the hud and the speedo always seemed to be off by 4 mph. nobody could explain this but we had 2 89's and both were the same.

the fuel light (or check gauges light) are easy fixes, theres an IC board on the back that needs resolderd, i had to do it, but the oil gauge is a new one for me to hear, and the speedo, they ALL get off after awhile, mine is pretty close tho, proly off by 3-4 mph at 65 mph. The Tachs also get screwy, the speedo and tach can only be repaird by a shop.

There is a fix for the speedo and tach either on here or on w-body.com somewhere. I think you need to solder in a new resistor on the back of the guage cluster becasue the original one degrades over time and the resistance changes. Im afraid to do it on my car tho, ill prolly mess the guages up more by taking the cluster out.

The cavalier i had had the crayziest oil pressure gauge. It would be pegged at 80 at all times untill i would hit the brakes. Then the needle would slam down to some random number untill i let off the brakes lol!

That's what the oil pressure gauge in my 1990 TGP does!!  Some quality control at GM, Hmm!!
