Ok so by 3 pm today I am leaving for South Dakota, and needed to figure out why my stereo system would randomly shut off and on. Rewired the grounds and power supply, and found out that the problem was the grey wire under the steering column. I tugged on it trying to trace it's source, but I pulled it out before I could even see where it went. So now I'm screwed and need help. I don't have a camera with me. All I can say is there's a long red wire running the length of the steering cloumn piece I removed, and this grey wire is below it. There's so many grey wires I'm lost, and I don't beleive it's a ground, though I may be wrong. Although, since it won't turn on, I'm sure it's either a power or ground. NEED HELP SOON! Sorry I don't have too much info to offer.

Is it the switched ignition wire to turn on your accessories?  I don't have my FSM with me it is at home.  Anyone want to scan in the ignition circuit for him?  Does everything else work such as the car starts and whatnot?  You can probably jump it into the switched ignition harness until you get home so the radio works when the car is on.  Check this link for wire colors for switched +12vdc sources.  Sorry I can't be more help.

No problem I figured it out. After going to a sound shop where they wouldn't offer me any help, I went to a dealership and talked with a guy who does stereo installs and he showed me the wire was an aftermarket wire, from when I had my stereo install done...I fitted the wire back to where I figured it was coming from and it's all golden now! Took me 10 minutes after talking to him.
