I plan on getting one of these this year, as Ive been meaning to for a loooooong time.

Anyways, has anyone ever converted a setup to obd2?

I can get a newer 3100 engine for cheap and wiring harness. I haven't kept up with the 60* setup for a while, but i know there have been "changes" from 3.1 to 3x00, but should be possible to hybrid together. Main reasons, since i work for DHP, pcm editing isnt an issue, and this is what i would want, and also running the 65e/65ehd setup (3.29 gears)...

The hardest part would be modifying the stock code to support a 2 bar map sensor(or even 3 bar). So if you can get that taken care of than everything else should be pretty simple. Just some wrench turning, common sense and you will be fine.   :icon_cool:

You don't NEED to utilize the obd2 to run the 3x00 series engines.  You can run them mpfi just like many of the j/l body owners do.  OBD1 is fine and can be used to tune to perfection if you know how to tune all the variables/tables.  IMO it just isn't worth the wire swap.  You could probably learn easily quick with moates or tuner pro.
If you're going to swap engines, I would go for the gusto and do a 3400/3500 hybrid or 3500 swap.  If you still want to do something with the 3100 engine and not do a full swap, you could swap the top end onto the 3.1mpfi.

not to mention, tuning is cheaper on obd1 :D

I've done some research on this, because I want to eventually convert to OBD II.  Two Main Reasons, 4T65-E HD, and the other is that I want to tune my GTP which is OBD II already, so it makes sense to buy one tuner.

Anyway, from what I understood, is that you are going to want to swap the entire Engine part of the harness and find someplace to shove the PCM.  That should be the easy part, its the interior side thats going to get interesting, making the DIC and the Cluster to work with the OBD II.  Speed shouldn't be an issue, because both OBD I and II get their signal from the VSS at 4000 Pulses per mile.

Yeah, I just couldn't figure out a way to work in the one member who claimed that adding a valance to his lightbulb kept it from overheating...

It uses MAF instead of Map so I don't think you need the 2bar map.

Im assuming your going to use the GTP PCM.  Shouldn't be hard to  find.
