I put my Dual headunit in cuz I was tired of not having a stereo in the car. I got the rear speakers to work for a little bit, but I don't hear any kind of sound out of the any of the 8 speakers in the car.

I know all about the stock amplifier(s) but I don't think that's the problem.
could it just be the speakers/wires?

I'm going to hook up some nice pioneer speakers to see if the wires are bad.

what should I change...fix?

get a fluke DMM and start checking the wiring to the radio and each speaker.

Do what cobra says: But in the process you might want to consider changing all speakers, after 16 years of abuse they definitely need to be replaced.  I did mine and it sounds a whole lot better.

I think I'm just going to do my own wiring and save some money. I specialize in custom jobs...but this will be a first for anything pre-97.
I'm going to finish of the fuel pump first, then I'll run the audio lines.
wish me luck!

If you do your own stereo work then you should be able to check continuity across your wiring, check for power, ground, signal at each speaker, ground at each speaker etc.....Check your radio fuse....I mean does the radio even come on?  What are the SPECIFIC symptoms.....we can only help you based on the information you give us.....

radio itselft works fine, but there's no sound coming out of the speakers.
before I get ahead of myself I'm going to put my stock 99 GTP CD Player in to see if maybe it's just the wiring harness that came with the car... (aftermarket install harness)

Got the whole system working...with a stock 1999 GTP radio...I want to buy a stock sereo that will fit my TSTE so the "Brand New" steering wheel controls can be utilized.

car could still use some new speakers.
I'm going to get a cheap full set to replace all the stock ones.

the problem was actually the aftermarket harness(s) weren't allowing the signals to pas through them for some reason...bad wiring obviously.

Thanks for your thoughts guys!!

Same here: bought some cheap ass Sont Xploads from a discount store. Would like to have some Infinity or Clarion, but who can afford those right now. good thinking to change them, the old ones could possibly burn--out the radio your about to put in :icon_cool:

Bullet

yeah, the way the previous owner had his stereo in was stupid. he obviously just threw it in there and had the headunit compressing the wires. BAD JUJU!!!

still need to find a cheap CD player for 1988-1996 TGP/GTP so I can use my "BRAND NEW" steering wheel controls.
I'm going to try making my own harness so I can use my Stock BOSE CD player from my 1999 GTP coupe.
