I got a used Addco 22mm rear swaybar for my TGP. I didn't get any instructions on how to install it though. I believe I have all the poly bushings that came with the kit, and the brass hangers.

Can someone please give me instructions on how to install this thing. Thanks!

I will look tonight to see if I still have the instruction sheet from mine... 8)

Sorry I don't have the directions anymore. If you need I can take pictures of mine this weekend and post them on here for you. It is rather straight forward on how to install it, but you do need to cut the sway bar hangers just right for the Addco bar to bolt in place. I will have time this weekend to take the pictures... 8)

is that addco unit noticeably larger than the TWIG thats back there now?  I went to carpart.com and they have a hellwig unit for $172 part #5803 but is the same part # for 86 grand prix.  are the 86 grand prix parts the same or these people smoking? also where did you order the addco unit? jcwhitney? straight from addco?

No I think they are the same bars for most any w-body cars in general. It is massive in comparison to the stock bar. The stock bar is .474" or 12mm and the Addco bar is 7/8" or 22mm. The handling of the car has improved 10 fold from the stock bar. Colorado is full of nice twisty roads and I would have real bad body roll with the stock bar. Now there is slight roll but much more stable. The only thing I don't like about the Addco bar is if you are under hard breaking in a very tight turn, it makes the inside rear tire real light and susceptible to engaging the Anti-Lock system... 8)

85-87 grand prix is rear drive though!  thats why i said they were smoking or something.  they have lowering springs and swaybars and a-arms listed for gp 85-88 as the same part #.   okay i saw the sway bar on the site but where did you get it and who has the best price?

Mine is bare metal, ha!

Anyway, I just need to know how to fix the hangers for the poly bushings.

Ok... As you can see in http://www.netavalanche.com/kenny/ek_9.jpg that the stock sway bar hanger needs to be cut. The Addco bar kit comes with many pre-drilled plates for this mount. You will cut the stock hanger below the mounting bolt. It is rather easy to use the stock hanger as a guide to cut it. The hanger metal makes a loop aroung the stock bar bushing. Where the metal loops around and comes back to the hanger you will see a gap in the metal. Cut along there. I used an air-cut off tool to do mine. Once the loop and the stock bar are out of the way it will be easy to see what you need to mount to. DO NOT cut the stock hanger to close to the welded nut! In http://www.netavalanche.com/kenny/ek_8.jpg you see that the Addco mounting bracket goes towards the rear of the car. I tried mounting it towards the front of the car but it would not line up. Then in http://www.netavalanche.com/kenny/ek_10.jpg you see where the ends of the Addco bar mount to the strut bottoms. You will need to use the Addco collar and bushings here. I had to remove the lower end of one of the struts to get the bar in place. Make sure you mark the strut mounting plate where it mounts to the rear wheel spindles before you take the nuts loose! This will be the reference you will need to return your car to its proper alignment... 8)
