I finally got some time to work on the car. I took all the grounds off the back of the engine, and cleaned everything up and put them back. The engine to battery ground seems to be in good shape. I've even hooked one of my jumper cables from the block to the battery to check and still nothing.

I took my chip adapter and ostrich out and just put in the stock AUAF chip into the ECM, and I'm still getting the error code that i was getting. I was having trouble with boost as well. I noticed that my waste gate solenoid was not closing. I've put power straight to the solenoid, and it is working, but it's not getting signal from the ECM. It's getting power, and i've checked and there is a gound signal coming from the ECM, but it seems like it's not strong enough to activate the solenoid.

So it seems like there is a ground issue still. I decided to check the chip. I switched to my original 88 2.8 ECM, and there weren't any codes tripped. I'm starting to think its the MEMCAL. Any ideas why my stock 2.8 chip wouldn't throw codes and the 3.1 would?

My car doesn't have a Park/Neutral switch being that it was a manual. Is there a possibility that there is some problem with that?

Thanks,
Jon

You said you changed computers or just the 2.8 memcal?  I have no Park/Neutral switch either.........and my car runs perfect.  If you changed the computer that could be your problem?

I'm still using the same 1227727 computer. The only thing that was changed was the memcal. I switched back to the 2.8 memcal, and the codes went away. I put the AUAF memcal in, and the codes came back. So to me, that says that it's not the chip adapter or the ostrich that's causing problems, and it seems like the chip itself. Is is possible for a bad memcal to cause these problems?

If so, does anyone have a spare TGP memcal?

Thanks,
Jon

Sounds like a corrupt bin/memcal.  Try a new memcal and new bin.

A good bin would be fantastic. I suspect the memcal as well since running straight without the G1 adapter is still throwing codes that the 2.8 chip isn't, but Adam, any bin you know to work that you want to send this way would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know of a memcal for sale?

Thanks,
Jon

I will send you a good known stock bin tomorrow when I'm at home. The memcals barley ever go bad, usually it's the eprom that fails and it's replaceable. PM me your email addy. later
