I finally got the "INTERCOOLED TURBO" to light up on the dash.  I just took medium grit sandpaper to the back of the gbadge and finished up with fine grit.  I put a peice of clear plastic behind the area to make it light up evenly.  There is even a spot for a bulb right behind the area.  Only took 20 min tops, too.  :)

How do I get the inst. cluster out to do this? I also need to resolder the chip on the back so my check gages and low fuel light work properly.

Duh! Now I feel stupid. I already read through that info. Thanks for refreshing my memory.

I should really get this up on my site, but I'm very slow at web building!

The top of the dash pops off. Take the two phillips screws out from above the insturment cluster and open the glove box. you will see a hole. Up inside is a 7mm screw. Remove the screw. Now pull up on the front of the dash. It will take some force. Then pull it towards you. That will release the rear clips. Unplug the hud and set the dash aside. Look down through the windshield at the top of the cluster. there will be 4 7mm screws at the corners holding it in. Remove the screws using a 1/4 drive ratchet and some extensions and sockets. A magnet helps to get the screws out without losing them in the dash. Lift the cluster up and becareful to clear the trip reset button on the top edge of the cluster shroud. Unplug the main plug, and the auxiliary plug if you have it on the back. Then you can resolder the chip and clean off the paint behind the intercooled/turbo emblem.

Not all LE's were column shift. My '89 had a 5-speed.

I wonder if you put a bulb behind the upshift arrow would it do anything?

Well I tried it as a joke with my TGP after I did the tranny swap and set the proper flags in the TGP code and it didn't work. Maybe something else in the code needs to be changed...but what I did didn't make it light-up... 8)

I think you actually have to run the wire from the ecm to the dash for it to work. Normally the same pin on the ECM controls TCC lockup.
