I will be putting my TGP into storage this weekend, and it will likely sit there for approximately 2 years.  Anyone have any tips for storing it?

I am looking at:

Wash & Wax
Clean interior
Change oil and oil filter
Fill gas tank with 1-2 gallons of non-oxygenated, non-ethanol premium and add fuel stabilizer, let car run to get stabilizer through fuel system
Flush cooling system and refill with 50% green coolant, 50% water
Check all fluid levels, top off if needed
Air up tires
Spray engine bay and tires with silicone spray
Park car in garage and put on car cover

What am I missing?

Battery maintainer or remove the battery from the car.  I would jack it up and put it on jackstands or blocks to keep the tires from flat spotting.  Put synthetic oil in it so it does not break down as fast (oil loses lubricity properties even if you don't use it), Car cover?  Decon to keep mice away?!

All that he said and remove belt if leaving untouched.  Otherwise if you start it at least every two months or so leave installed.  Jackstands are a must!

Are you filling your gas tank as full as possible?  I always do so I get the lease amount of condensation as possible.

I also take a paper plate and put some baking powder on it to attempt to trap some condensation from the interior.

Lastly I put some cotton balls in the trunk, floor boards and engine bay with some peppermint scent on them (got peppermint extract from GNC) this drives the mice away since they cannot stand the smell.

Dont forget to treat your windshield wipers & weatherstripping also (with the silicone spry)

Just take the TGP to AZ and enjoy it...........you got that ranger tow it down there on a dolly.

What would removing the belt do?  Also, why would it need to be on jackstands?  Cars are on the ground for their entire lives, why does it need to be in the air now?  I don't understand that, if you could explain that one to me please..

Actually, I was planning on running it down to near empty and adding 1-2 gallons of non-oxy non-ethanol premium.  The non-ethanol gas does not absorb much moisture like regular gasoline.

The Ranger is a 4 cyl and can only pull 1500 lbs.  TGP is a bit overweight   Plus if I brought it down there, I don't have a garage to put it in.. for now I just have covered parking in AZ.

Thanks everyone!

I have had my three GP's in storage almost consistantly since 2003...............never any problems with the fuel (I always put sta-bo) in it.

if you want to buy new tires in 2 years then doint put it on jackstands........Right now you drive your car every few weeks or days right?  Well if you let a car sit for like 6 months or more without moving the tires will get flat spotted and will vibrate all over the place next time you drive it.......the belt will take a set or flat spot..........

I will politely argue Kens point about tires, I had the factory tires on my 1997 GTP for 9 + years.  This included 3 years of storage while stationed in Italy & yearly 6 month hibernation periods.

The car was always in a garage and when out was driven hard and had 30+ passes at the dragstrip.

I only got flat spots I got after the 3 year storage period.

The tires were the factory Goodyears.

Once again not trying to start an argument Ken  :icon_mrgreen:

That is ok my cobra sat at the dealership for 165 days on the showroom........when I got it the tires were flat spotted and they tried to balance them out but no good.......the replaced all 4 of them free of charge.......

I'm sure it depends tire brand and size etc........with a short sidewall you are going to feel it a lot more than say a 65 profile.

I guess you can do whatever you like they might be fine like GPchief said but who really knows.
