Wanted: Advice and TGP ECM or CHIP also needed: Crossover, tuning parts, etc.

hello i have a 1990 TGP, all stock i think? how can i check if i have a stock ECM or if my compter has been chipped or not. can i chip this myself or does anyone have something that i can bolt in.
I plan to keep it stock with these mods: cat already removed, plan to upgrade air filter/intake, manual boost controller and gauges, maybe injectors and of corse the chip i want to buy. I am interested in buyying a jeffm or buying something so i can log and modify myself or with others on the forum. I dont know where to start and what my options are? and the cost of these options? new, used or Doing it myself? i have a laptop i can use, so consider this

what other mods should i consider doing? i dont want to spend a much more money than what i mentioned.. what are i missing

Also need a crossover pipe. I want a fixed used one or a aftermarkert or jeffm? does anyone have one of these? also is there a differce in performance?

Hi Jon if you want to know if your chip is modified you need to pull the computer out and remove the inspection plate that houses the chip. Then once the cover is removed, you need to look in one of the two circle holes on the top so removal will NOT be necessary. if it is blank it is stock if it is a top gun it will be written in pen "Top Gun" and the temperature rating. While being stock I would stick with the car's computer controlled boost controller, because even though they are temperamental I personally don't trust manual boost controllers, once chipped a adjustable wastegate would be a better way to go. Flybynight is one of the few people that can burn chips, and would be the guy to get a hold of
As far as cross overs good luck finding one. A few of the guys are working on making new ones. The Jeff M crossover is more of a dependability performance and is better built than stock.
Ford yellow top injectors are a good way to go. Please use the search feature when you are curious on any subject and don't want to scroll through all the threads, It has been a big help for me.
First and fore most better performance starts with proper maintenance. Get your fluids flushed and keep your chassis greased. There are a lot of easy mods you can do and the search bar is your best friend for that.

boy theres a huge difference in a chipped TGP vs stock thats for sure. I luckily got my Jeff M xover used from somebody online here for 300 bucks. Was worth every penny. Theres a sticky thread about the latest person rebuilding xovers on here, jeffm is long gone apparently, wonder what happend

I here ya there on the chip difference :icon_mrgreen:. i also lucked out with an Jeff M x-over from a tgp i picked up from Ohio then traded to shifter later.
Although I never personally  mingled with Jeff M I do have respect for him and wish him the best where ever he might be.

I will check the computer in the morning, is the computer under the dash or is it the one under the hood?

Also can anyone ive me links to ecm options and whatnot? im having a hard time finding things on here, also where can i find vacuum line diagrams?

I'm not sure Ben at wot-tech does any TGP chips. I think he only deals with naturally aspirated(non-turbo) 3.1's.

I do think he makes Tgp chips. I know a member did a Tgp swap to his na 3.1 and Ben made him a chip. So it's a toss up. Just contact Ben and find out for sure. ;)

IIRC he does have some stock TGP bin files. A w-body member bought a tune from him for the auto platform then decided he wanted a 5 speed. He sent me Ben's chip so i could modify the settings for the 5 speed. I am pretty sure Ben's chip was completely stock. All of my tunes are tested in one of my TGP's before they are shipped out and I also replace the eprom as well. I bought my first TGP in 1996 and started hacking the computer by mid 2000. I have learned a lot about the TGP code since then... With my tunes you get my complete support and knowledge of the TGP platform.. I also give out my personal phone # so we can discuss your tune over the phone and i will make recommendations on what you can do to your TGP that will complement the tune.
