Formula 1. Hosepower=(0.00426*mph)^3*race weight
Horsepower=(0.00426 times miles per hour) power of 3 time race weight
Horsepower=(0.00426 times mph)*(0.00426 times mph)*(0.00426 time mph) times race weight.

Formula 2. HP=(mph/234)^3*weight
Horsepower=(mile per hour devide by 234) power of 3 time weight.
Horsepower=(mph/234)*(mph/234)*(mph/234)* weight of vehicle raced.

There are other method of getting estimated hp figures but the 1/4 trapspeed is more acurate.

:drinking:  Track time slips are the real proof... there are way to many 'real' factors that come into play, stomp it at the line... power break it... auto shift or shift it yourself... fuel octane... tire spin... and that is just the start of it!!! :crazyeyes:

That is true. those equations do not compensate for tire slippage, torque-converter slippage, or wind resistance, but you should find the horsepower figures to be fairly accurate. :wink:

:drinking: sorry tooo many of those beers, I just reread your origimal post and man was I Offf, You were talking HP and I was talking 1/4 mile times... heck after 5 or 6  coconut mudslides, on top of the beers, I was lucky I hit the right keys on the keyboard... :oops:
