Stereo Controls on steering wheel

I have a alpine cd player in my car so the controls on the wheel are no good to me.... and i was wondering if i could take those out and put in a new part that didnt have the buttons....i just got the car so i dont know much about them yet thanx to neone that can help  :D

You can get the center pad from a GP that didn't have the controls. Or you can get the adapter that allows the steering wheel controls to be wired to a wireless remote. That way you can still use your controls on the wheel.

I got mine from pfyc.com (see link below).  I did some research and they have a really good price on it.  It's the PAC SWI-X.  It's a converter that takes your steering wheel controls and converts the signal into a infrared signal so you deck will recognize it.  Works good and pretty easy to install.
