Title: UPDATED: Installed Birchmount in my TGP
Post by: GOT2B GM on October 04, 2006, 05:28:39 PM
I bought and picked up a Birchmount spring that kuntzie had in his TGP today, and spent the latter part of the afternoon installing it.

I'm still waiting on my Intrax front springs so its sitting a little funny right now.

Here's some pics.

Looks great, thinking of getting a little lower myself I wonder what some 20 inchers would look like with a little lower stance just so that wheel wells would be full of tire

I agree with the smaller rim part...personally if you can pull it off, kudos, but I feel that tire is sexy, rims shouldn't be the hog lol.

I plan on sticking with the crosslaces for the time being.

Just a lil update.

I bought some solid leaf end blocks from Napa and shaved 5/16" off of them to maintain the lowered stance without all the noise.
I also have the rubber insulators that I cut off of a factory spring clamped into place.

My Intrax lowering springs were shipped last Monday from Missouri. I can't wait to get 'em.
For now I'm still sitting like this:

bye bye valence panel!! hahaha!! :icon_biggrin:

You wil need to be real careful with your front end.  Mine rubs fairly often, sometimes it feels like the springs fully compress and shakes the shit out of the car when hitting potholes.  Looks good though!! :icon_mrgreen:

Mmm, TGP goodness. :icon_cool: You've got me wanting to clean up my car now. Gonna get around to that this weekend since it's supposed to warm up a little.

How much did that leafspring cost?  Also what did those Napa blocks cost?  My rear leaf spring is cracked and needs to be replaced.
Thanks

I got the spring from Jeff (kuntzie) for like $120 CDN, and the spring blocks were like $25 CDN for the pair.

How much do the blocks raise the rear end?

you need the blocks under the ends, not really an option  :icon_neutral:

there about a inch thick and you can use a table belt sander to make them thinner and that in theory would lower the ride but you NEED something so its not metal on metal if your using the birchmount leaf especially.

Yes I know I need them, but I was wondering if I could use more than 1 set, because I don't want mine to ride THAT low.  Could you answer that?  How much does each block RAISE the rear end?

I shaved my blocks down to a third of their original thickness.

And, what Jeff said above.

LOL @ stacking the blocks

if one block stock is ONE INCH! then 2 blocks stacked (if possable) like you said would be????

Simple math here...

Dude... I wasn't asking how thick the blocks were, I was just asking how much each block RAISES the rear end.  Thats all.  :icon_neutral:

the thickness of the blocks IS the amount the rear will be raised......

this is not hard "dude"

one block = one inch
shave 1/2 off that block = lower 1/2 inch from what it was
Add 2 blocks (if possable) = raise 2 inches

I didn't know- that is why I asked.  Plain and simple.

Also Nick if you don't like how low Matt's TGP is...then if you get one...make sure it's not as low.....as the guy can make them to lower any amount....

You should have said that in the first place- this is exactly what I was asking for, not the harassment over the simple questions I asked.  Done
