Title: WOT at idle?!?!?!?!?
Post by: dogginred90 on January 23, 2009, 03:52:43 PM
Ok guys need your help here. I just replaced both my heads. Which we all knw whats involved with that. LIM, UIM,all that other good stuff. Well I get it all back together and fire her up. And she goes straight to the rev limiter. I checked the throttle for bindage, there is none. Disconnected the follow with no cure, Throttle linkage, IAC, TPS, CTS. The only thing that changed it was the MAP, and it just wont run with it unplugged. Any suggestions on this BIG issue.
                              Thanks,
                                       Shawn

You plug in the PCV hose and valve itself?

Is the Vacuum tube for the trans hooked up?

I was thinking about the PCV valve, but it will have to wait till morning. I sprayed carb cleaner on the vacumm lines and upper intake with no change.

Yeah, those PCV hoses suck!  They get old and brittle, then when you move it around to put it back in, it tears/cracks and then you just want to break out the sledge hammer.  lol

That is why I used a 2.8 LIM and capped the 3.1 UIM nipple.  Dont EVER have to deal with that hose EVER again when removing the UIM.

Sounds like you have a BIG vacuum leak somewhere. Check over all your vac. hoses/connectors. It's not hard to pull them slightly out of the little rubber boots they seat in to plug into sensors and such. It's also not hard to put cracks in them as they get brittle with age.

Glad you got it figured out. That pcv hose has caused plenty of people to have leaks at the rear plenum gasket. That gasket was leaking slightly on my Red TGP when I first got it.
